Further evidence that Sarah Palin has defied all the conventional wisdom about vice presidential nominees.

Never before has a defeated vice presidential nominee risen to the de facto leadership of the party, instead of being written off as a dismal failure, right after a crushing election defeat.

Never before has the media taken more interest in the defeated vice presidential nominee than the vice president-elect right after the election.

Could the same have been said of any other vice presidential candidate McCain could have chosen?

Who would rally behind a defeated Tim Pawlenty, Charlie Crist, Mitt Romney, Tom Ridge or Joe Lieberman?

You are right about that. Sarah is the GOP rock star right now. Normally the defeated VP nominee goes back to obscurity. If you're old enough, remember Bill Miller (Goldwater's VP) and his American Express commercials?
