Please explain to me specifically just how the government "affords me a lifestyle". It is your assertion that I couldn't have done what I did anywhere else. (this arrogant assumption is made without knowing ANYTHING about me) So, tell me what specifically the government did to help me. I'll give you a hand. My parents did not send me to public skool so you can't claim that I was given an education at the expense of someone else. Oh and one other thing, that military that you claim I don't know anything about, would that be the same one that gave me an all expense paid tropical vacation 41 years ago?
Also You should know that logic is NOT on your side with this truly startling assertion that I would only have a couple of cows somewhere else. IF THIS WERE TRUE, then there would be NO wealthy people anywhere else other than the USA, but oddly enough (at least oddly enough according to your statist theory that the government made this possible) there are people who manage to rise up everywhere. Further there are governments everwhere that practice the wealth redistribution that is inherent in your view. Some of the more notable ones are the economic powerhouses of North Korea and Cuba - both of which practice it to a greater degree than other countries. They should have the most wealth and the most wealthy people, but funny, the exact opposite is true. < sarcasm> I wonder why.< /sarcasm>

A progressive tax rate makes perfect sense to my Christian mind.You don't ask people who are making twenty thousand dollars to pay the same amount as those making two hundred thousand dollars
First a non-progressive tax eg. a "flat" tax would not ask them to pay the same amount but rather the same rate. a 20% flat tax would take $4000 from the first and $40,000 from the second. look at your progressive tax structure under the current USA tax structure the first family would GET money probably about $2500 and the second would pay about $47,000. So in essence the hard work of the second is subsidizing the lifestyle of the first. How does your "christian mind" view this forced transfer. Do you consider one person being forced at gunpoint to pay for someone else WITHOUT ANY CONTROL OVER THAT PERSON"S ACTIONS "godly?" Second,

But apparently you have no qualms about making life harder for those who are already working harder. A frequently ignored fact is that family income in the USA is statistically tied to hours worked per week in the family. Typically families in the "poverty" level work 20 or fewer hours per week. Families that hit the low end of middle class work 20 - 40 hours a week, famililes that hit the high end work 40-80 hours a week and wealth families hit 80 or more hours per week. Take a look at doctors. They make a lot of money and are a frequent target of envy by people with your progressive tax view. They live a hard life. Typically they work anywhere from 60 - 100 hours a week doing things that you are unable to do, risking disease and death by infectious disease by treating HIV and hep C positive patients. Now you think that their hard work should be penalized so that some welfare queen can spend her days drunk high and pregnant (gets a bigger check with more dependents) Hours per week correlation to wealth is not a hard and fast rule, but indicative.
Worldwide those countries with the most government typically have the least wealth and highest poverty. Look at the difference between China today and China 30 years ago. Whats different? LESS GOVERNMENT CONTROL AND LOWER TAXES _ LESS WEALTH TRANSFER NOW THAN BEFORE

Rahm Emanuel is a ballet dancer. I surmise his “marriage” and family is a coverup of his real tendencies. According to a piece written about Emanuel in 2006, he was reported to prefer “balletic twirling” to roughhousing with his brothers. I think he is a fairy...
Or, OTOH, are these CivDef troops going to be NG who have had real counter insurgency training. I wonder how many NG do have real CI training? While the troops are literate and perhaps read science fiction, especially the war fighter genre, I wonder how many of the street thugs are or do? And do they have to?

Also, there’s a LOT of nasty stuff that even our veterans of Iraq haven’t seen even on COIN duty - either because Iraq didn’t have the prerequisites for it, or because the terrs didn’t have the resources. The Chechens, for example, came up with some *really* nasty tricks that they used on the Russians.

I am still trying to get people to think beyond the guns and the ammo box. Nothing wrong with either of them, but we all have to have our plans in place. Most people still don't have a plan... I'm actually going to be on local radio in Nashville from 11.00-12.00H central time this Saturday talking about having a plan in place, and knowing when to put it in to action. Not to be labeled as a seditionist, I am going to cover it from the "disaster preparedness" standpoint, but include personal and home defense.
I've written about this in previous posts since late September... I am trying to do what I can to bolster others' abilities before those abilities are needed.

I know how you feel... I spent three days sitting at the reloading bench, pulling the lever on my old press. Ran out of cleaned brass, and ran out of some of the bullets for my favorite loads. Not to worry, though - I'll have plenty before year end.

I noticed the Democrat union minions were VERY aggressive this year in trying to take our county sheriff's seat. It looked like the guy they ran had quite a bit of cash. They ran a two or three-year very shrill campaign in the press against him even before their candidate be known, so who funded that?
Has anyone else here noticed the targetting of their sheriff's office by the unions in their areas? I'm curious to see if there was a national effort.
Everyone needs to pay particular attention to keeping Obama and Ayers types OUT of county sheriff seats by actively working for the good ones, or even running against the compromised ones, and studying their choices with care.

I don’t think people are making the connection here. It’s too bad too, because if they succeed they will definitely usurp the 2nd amendment this way.
Well that was obvious right our of the box. Never thought I'd long for the good old Clinton days.
Even though alot of Clinton cronies will be in the administration, I think this is going to be far different than a 3rd Clinton term. Some of Obama’s proposed policies will be unlike anything were accustomed too. Such as his service related policies that I am certain he will set into motion. His entire professional career has been geared towards the poor, not the middle class, not helping business owners, but the poor. His presidency is going to reflect this. Even though he appears to be anti-war, I think he’s going to be a trouble maker where trouble shouldn’t be started (Israel, Pakistan). I’m really glad we have FR, to keep each other aware.
But, first he’s got to tarnish the Republicans by putting Bush on trial, so that he can get elected again in 2012.
