Are we talking about the zerO mandate civilian corps and their 3 months training and 50 jumping jacks? Against the denizens of the inner cities who are veterans of the drive-by?

Or, OTOH, are these CivDef troops going to be NG who have had real counter insurgency training. I wonder how many NG do have real CI training? While the troops are literate and perhaps read science fiction, especially the war fighter genre, I wonder how many of the street thugs are or do? And do they have to?

I have been reading speculative fiction for over 50 years, with a concentration in the post-apocalyptic, survivalist and dystopia sub-genres. And here we are.

Also, there’s a LOT of nasty stuff that even our veterans of Iraq haven’t seen even on COIN duty - either because Iraq didn’t have the prerequisites for it, or because the terrs didn’t have the resources.
