Yeah, we have as much poverty. We also have tens of millions of poorly educated illegal immigrants who came here and are bringing wages down.

And, yeah, I believe in a strong military, public schools, libraries, publicly funded police departments, fire departments, etc.

Send one of your kids to Somalia in the middle of nowhere, and when he pulls himself up by his bootsraps you can tell me how anyone can do it without help. No, you didn't do it without help. You did it by living in a country that affords you a lifestyle unlike many other countries. You think you could have "pulled yourself up by your bootstraps in any number of third world countries - regardless of their political bent? No, you wouldn't have. Oh, maybe you'd have a couple of cows compared to your neighbor who only has a goat, but you wouldn't have the lifestyle you have here.

A progressive tax rate makes perfect sense to my Christian mind. You don't ask people who are making twenty thousand dollars to pay the same amount as those making two hundred thousand dollars. I don't see anything godly about making life harder for people who are barely getting by, anyway. And, by the way, I believe that he who doesn't work, shouldn't eat, with the exception of severely disabled people. Yeah, I do believe in safety nets when family isn't there for the least of society's poor. Peace.

Can anyone else ponder the PENALTY when I refuse to send my kid to this? I take it you have never been to Oregon? Here is a hint: our two state school mascots are The Ducks and The Beavers! The volume of the Columbia River (which seperates Washington State from Oregon) is larger than all other rivers in the US, except the Mississippi and the St. Lawrence (which drains the Great Lakes!) With a much smaller basin. Why? It rains all the dam time here. There are rivers EVERYWHERE, even the dry part of the state has rivers.

Well, we were speaking of remote places to survive the coming collapse and I was asked about MT and WY and responded with places in the upper Midwest. On the Great Plains, to the West of Iowa, there is a huge area with water shortages.

There was NO mention of the Left Coast and none of OR, because, frankly, we all know that it is full of liberals who have managed to make land use quite problematic in the rainy areas, west of the mountains. East of the mountains, IIRC, there are water issues.

But if you prefer OR as a place to live out times of civil unrest and shortages and liberal domination, why not tell us why?

I did not post my beliefs or opinions. I posted part of an essay stating what God’s Word says about the draft and/or national service. In answer to your question, yes it is forbidden by Scripture at ALL times because it is the removal of innocent persons against their will, ...whether it is during wartime or during a time of planting trees to save the environment.

If your neighbor does not have the right to walk into your house and steal your belongings from your home because he doesn’t have any furniture, and needs some furniture for his own home, then he also does not have the right to walk into your home and walk out with your children because he has some other idea.

Hi again, I missed the second question you asked:

Scripture says to render unto Ceasar what is Ceasar’s, so I don’t see where a person could say “all taxation is stealing” given that verse.

As far as what is the proper amount of taxation, I have no idea, so I can’t answer that.
