Fox Dishes The Dirt On Palin
Washington Independent ^ | 11/6/08 9:25 AM | Matthew DeLong

The effort within the McCain campaign’s upper ranks to pin Sen. John McCain’s loss of the presidential election on Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is now in full swing, and Fox News’ Carl Cameron eagerly plays the gossip columnist.

On “Fox Report” last night with Shephard Smith, Cameron said he learned during the campaign that many within the McCain team were concerned that Palin “lacked the degree of knowledgeability” to be a heartbeat away from the presidency — but agreed not to report the details until the after the election.

McCain is no conservative, w/o Palin the election would have been a landslide of epic proportions.

I do believe that there were some who couldn’t vote for a fairly untested woman and had no love for McCain and just stayed home, but it was Sarah who got most of the conservative vote and got the conservatives to the polls.

Interesting how the McCain campaign is now scapegoating Gov Palin. Seems there is now a concerted effort to damage her for any future political consideration.
Definitely a Kerrigan kneecap attempt.

I've avoided Fox for the past few years...BUT just happened to catch Carl Cameron on Shep Smith/O'Reilly and his unnamed sources regarding his previous 'off the record' anecdotes about Gov Palin.

My IMMEDIATE IMPRESSION...Carl could be likened to a breathless, excitable, prepubescence, girl just about to bleat out the latest vicious gossip. He was so animated, spewing words per second, leaning towards the camera as he related his latest tidbits.

..it's difficult to believe that McCain did not know about these things

The uncomfortable handshake and hug at McCain's concession speech was telling--I could be misinterpreting the body language, but I don't think so...

Cameron’s whole coverage has been a hit job on Palin - since day one. FOX is finished with me!

I said it early on — McCain must’ve felt like sad-sack Prince Charles back in the day when the crowd would leave him standing all alone on one side of the street, just for the chance to get a mere glimpse of her on the other. Nobody really gave much of a crap about listening to him until she came along. Same thing here. Some men’s egos are fragile, indeed.

Most of the conservative base would follow Sarah Palin to hell and back (and the way it’s looking, it may literally come to that). There isn’t one logical reason she shouldn’t stay in Alaska with her family, run their business and lead lives like the normal people they are.
But I sure as hell hope she comes back to fight these bass turds.

Does anyone actually believe that Palin doesn't know Africa is a continent?

Only those poor, luckless souls forevermore damned with the dread affliction...:

PALIN DERANGEMENT SYNDROME!

(Thankfully, for all the rest of us: it only smites liberals and RINOs.) ;)

If he hadn’t picked her, the electoral map might have looked like the reverse of Reagan’s.

Watched Cameron last night and again this morning on the rerun of Bill O’Reilly’s program. Cameron acted gleeful in reporting the “trash” on Palin and appeared to enjoy talking about it. Sarah needs to appear on Fox ‘n Friends to defend these outrageous remarks. Gretchen was steamed this morning about the trashing of Sarah by the McCain campaign and it was suggested by Steve Ducey that the campaign staff needed to find work and basically trashed Sarah because they couldn’t trash McCain.

I had never contributed money to a Republican presidential campaign until this year. It was because of the Sarah Palin pick that I sent the McCain campaign two donations.

McCain, on his own, would draw half the crowd that Palin, on her own, could draw. I have never seen the base as jazzed up as it was after the Palin pick.

The McCain campaign misused her and, demonstrating the level of incompetence we have all come to expect from “moderate” Republicans, squandered their best asset. They threw her into the clutches of an enemy media bent only on discrediting her in any way possible while ignoring for weeks on end the friendlier venues on talk radio and at local TV and radio sites. The handlers and advisers assigned to her were, according to what I read, people who had worked in the Bush White House. Which means they were (and are) incompetent dolts who, with the single exception of the late Tony Snow, never once demonstrated any ability to communicate effectively or to mount an effective press campaign on behalf of their boss. In the hands of such people any person of reasonable intelligence would rightly be suspicious and rightly rebel once their stupidity had once again been displayed.

How could the fake Sarkozy interview even happen? Can’t the staffers trace the phone number of an incoming call, to make sure it belongs to who it’s supposed to? Wouldn’t they be able to tell a call is coming from Canada vs. France?

I was disgusted with Carl Cameron’s reporting. It was nothing more than tabloid style reporting. I suspect that most of what was “reported” isn’t even true.

This is the face of "journalism" today. Nothing is sourced and the information is delivered with the reporter's bias. There is no neutrality in the MSM anymore. They don't even pretend to be professional and factual. There was a time when a network wouldn't have touched this story without named sources, and certainly the news wouldn't have been delivered with Cameron's obvious breathless delight.

Oh, boy, here’s another MSM “some sources say....” “sources within...” BS story. Just yesterday we had a thread about Newsweak quoting “sources within the McCain campaign” that Palin was spending too much money on clothes.

And the pity is that this type of BS works. Some freeper was replying to each and every post (including mine) on that thread that we need to get at the “truth”. Some idiot (probably a DU plant) wrote in that she sent in her last few dollars to the McCain campaign instead of buying shoes for her own child, only to have the money wasted by Sarah Palin at some ritzy store.

You know what, I don’t care anymore. I’m done. This country has spat in the face of God for the last 40 or so years, and guess what? The bill is coming due.

I think she will run for the senate, and win.

2012 may be too early as Nixon once commented about after his first loss, but 2016 looks like the date.

Yes, it's time for me to give up Fox News.

But can I at least watch Megyn Kelly for 15 minutes in the morning?

I sent an email to Fox yesterday for what it is worth. Carl Cameron shared gossip. Is this news? It is a disgusting display. I told Fox they lost my respect and they lost me as a viewer.

Hey Carl Cameron...news flash... consider the source before you take information for fact. Don’t waste our time with this garbage.

I guess I will read for the next four years.
