Carl Cameron just said McCain campaign shocked to discover Sarah Palin did not realize Africa was a continent, believing instead that it was a country. She did not know the countries in NAFTA. She refused offered preparation for the Couric interview and threw temper tantrums over adverse press.
Wow. Dumping on Sarah in a big way. Shep asked how on Earth the McCain camp could have ended up picking such a dope (not exact words, but sense of what he said).
They did point out she seemed to help the polling numbers.
I knew this was going to be the template, but I was surprised at the level of nastiness on Fox News. Looks like elements of the McCain campaign is determined to make her the scapegoat for the loss. (Couldn't have been anything about the man at the top of the ticket.)

Using unidentified sources to push dubious and damaging claims like this in a national newscast then chatting back and forth about it did seem nasty and tabloid-ish to me. And I don’t think Sarah Palin got to be governor of Alaska without knowing Africa was a continent, not a country.

Well if true she didn’t know Africa is a continent- what is the problem? The man who was actually elected thinks we have 57 states.
As for prep for the Katie interview- I thought Sarah did better before the McCain campaign started messing with her.

First of all, let’s be frank, guys. It took Nixon 8 years to rehabilitate himself and win the Presidency in 1968 after losing in 1960. She’s a great inspiration to the party, but she had her shot and blew it. And no doubt McCain is to blame for this as well since he’s the presidential nominee, but Palin’s responsible for Palin, so she should be held accountable for her performance.
We need a candidate in 2012 who can easily match Obama’s intellect, who’s unabashedly conservative in deed and rhetoric, and who can COMMUNICATE a conservative vision effectively (unlike the current President or our current presidential nominee). That person is Bobby Jindal! Jindal-Daniels 2012! (that’s right, Mitch Daniels would make a perfect VP, especially Indiana is suddently a swing state).
