The Minnesota U.S. Senate race remains a tossup on the final weekend of the campaign, with the outcome likely to be decided by who can snatch away the most voters from third-party contender Dean Barkley.
A new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows DFLer Al Franken clinging to a slim lead over Republican Sen. Norm Coleman among likely voters, 42 percent to 38 percent. That's within the poll's 4.1 percentage point margin of sampling error.
Independence Party candidate Barkley, who held steady at 18 percent in the two previous Minnesota Polls, slipped three points to 15 percent.
The fluid nature of the contest is reflected in the results of a handful of polls the past week that reported results ranging from a six-point lead for Coleman to a five-point lead for Franken.
What this means is that after more than a year of exhaustive campaigning, a whopping $40 million spent and nonstop ads ranging from policy clashes to character attacks, it could be a last-minute development -- performances in tonight's final debate on Minnesota Public Radio, unusually heavy voter turnout or ongoing fallout from breaking controversies -- that determines the outcome.

But several other polls (taken in the last few days) show Coleman with a slight lead that's barely outside of the margin of error.

Those people in Minnesota really take their politics seriously. So seriously in fact that half of them want to send a comedian to Washington. Ya gotta love their sense of humor.
Why do we insist on posting these Mpls Star polls when we know they are BS?
Think of him as like Barney Frank but with his mouth empty.
Would the state that elected Jesse Ventura also elect Al Franken? I hate to say it, but I think they might.
That is one sick state. I did not realize Minnesotans were so full of hate.
This in itself is a tremendous reason to never live, visit or take a job in Minnesota: Half the voting population is deranged enough to vote for Franken!
If Minnesota elects Franken, they deserve what they get. You would think they learned a lesson from Ventura.
Unbelievable! Half of the American people are in some kind of trance.
George Will says all is not lost.
If Franken wins I must respectfully disagree.
I’ve little idea of what to make of some of the stories; I’ve dined at restaurants (virtually the oldest Italian restaurant in that city and in East St. Paul) in St. Paul and saw Norm there when he was mayor, he seems like a good moral man. I don’t even need to see anti-Al material when I know who is best to vote for and has been even before the last election six years ago.

Rasmussen has it at 43-39 for Coleman, with 14% for the Independent Barkley. This was as of Oct. 29.

Combine the Swedish tradition of Socialism and the rising Muslim population and you have a recipe for disaster.
Read about Swedish women getting assaulted (e.g., raped and murdered) by Muslim immigrants and the lily-livered Swedes do nothing since it might hurt the Muzzies feelings.
Socialism is institutionalized cowardice and will always be the victim of totalitarianism.
Watch Obama surrender to Mexico without a shot being fired. Mexican drug cartels have already taken over whole towns in California. Nancy P. doesn’t care, as long as its not HER neighborhood!

Good, I thought I’d heard of a poll with NC with a few percentage points lead. Barkley? Must be a libertarian. 14% is pretty good for an independent, I wonder who he takes votes away from? I can look it up myself.
Franken’s an ass#2$@, but don’t make the mistake of thinking he’s stupid. He’s actually very intelligent, and that makes him dangerous, given his ideology.
The Powerline guys (all of whom seem very astute especially on MN politics) have Coleman ahead with some, but not complete confidence. I pray that they know what they’re talking about.
