Pro-Obama Catholics plan ‘stop the vote’ at parishes

Denver, Oct 31, 2008 / 06:26 pm (CNA).- Priests for Life is warning that James Salt and Chris Korzen from the pro-Obama organization Catholics United sent a blast email on Thursday offering instructions on how to prevent pro-life Catholics from distributing electoral guides near Catholic parishes around the country. Fr. Frank Pavone, director of Priests for Life, has also pointed out that the Catholics United plan could have negative legal consequences.

In a message sent from the email address parishprotection@catholics-united.org under the subject "Help Protect Catholic Churches from Political Manipulation," James Salt and Chris Korzen say that with less than a week to go until Election Day, things are getting ugly. “In a final act of desperation, the religious far right is calling on its activists to defy the U.S. Catholic Bishops' order to keep unapproved election materials from church property by doing a 'literature drop' at parishes across the country. The goal of this activity is to convince Catholics that it's immoral to vote for candidates who don't subscribe to the right's narrow agenda."

The email goes on to warn that last Monday, "the partisan group Priests for Life held a teleseminar to train some 3,300 activists nationwide on how to place divisive political literature on the windshield of every churchgoing Catholic's car this Saturday and Sunday."

Salt and Korsen then announce that Catholics United is "spearheading an effort to put the brakes on the religious right's plans in as many parishes as possible," and is asking followers to "call your pastor and encourage him to instruct the ushers to monitor the church parking lot during the worship service."

It’s time for the Caatholic Church to tell people that if they are pro-Choice they are NOT Catholic. It’s really not complicated.

If she lives in Northern Virginia, she might like my parish.

Fortunately not that way at my catholic church in Northern Virginia. Every Sunday since Labor day the pastor reminds us that we need to vote for the pro-life candidate. This week, he gave a special announcement after mass informing us that one candidate is in support of the Free-Choice Act and that we cannot vote for such a candidate. Life before liberty before pursuit of happiness and the economy. At least twice this fall he compared abortion to the Holocaust and slavery. After mass, voters guides in our bulletins and abortion pamphlets on our cars greeted us.

Under Planned Parenthood ‘standards (whatever)’...Christ would have been aborted....after all....a woman claiming to be a virgin and pregnant....Planned Parenthood would have been sending abortionists on asses to do the dastardly dead by the droves....or maybe, they would have just sent the asses...same difference.

Sounds like a great parish. There are some good parishes in Philly; this diocese is one of the more conservative in the country.
The younger priests are very good and orthodox, as are the oldsters. But the guys who went to the seminary in the seventies are really screwed up doctrinally, and in some cases, morally. Unfortunately, many of them are just the right age to be pastors, and they lead the whole parish down the wrong path, even when their fellow residing priests are good guys.

The person must first publicly advocate a position in direct contradiction to church teaching.

Then, the pastor and/or bishop must learn of it.

Next, the pastor and/or bishop must issue a warning to the person.

The person must persist in his error, thereby demonstrating bad will, and not merely ignorance.

Only then would the bishops issue a public excommunication, and they would never do it lightly, or in public unless the person in question is publicly flaunting their defiance of God’s laws, thereby causing grave scandal to the faithful and potentially misleading others into the sin.

There are more good Catholics in those pews than anyone dreams of....and yes, narses, a large portion of them are in Catholic churches that are “novus ordo”.

Just for example the Carmelite lay community I belong to is growing amazingly and we have hundreds of these communities in the US alone, and there are 10,000 of us worldwide.

The Spirit moves where He wills and the Church—the whole Church—is on its way to a renewed vigor and holiness.

It is imprudent to paint with such broad brushes, wintertime.

“...and yes, narses, a large portion of them are in Catholic churches that are “novus ordo”.”

Absolutely. Until the Motu Proprio almost all of the Roman Catholic Church believed that ONLY the Novus Ordo was licit. I would guess that well over 98% of all who attend Mass today attend a Novus Ordo ceremony. That said, almost none of the hideous, left wing abuses that happen do so in the Extraordinary Form (or Tridentine) of the Holy Mass. More - the Orders that I listed have a history of fighting against Modernism (a documented heresy) and are antagonistic to Marxist clerics and laity.

God Bless the Carmelites and all of the Holy men and women who hold and share the True Faith.

What do you expect when the name
“barack hussein obama” can be rearranged into the
phrase:
“A Man Hacks Our Babies”
...but what’s in an anagram?

;-)

Any catholic that supports Obama is a catholic in name only.

They won't realize they've thrown their own souls headlong into Hell, until it's too way late for them. That's change you can belieeeve in! Jesus was right warning us about deception!

My poor family. They're going to vote for their new messiah, Obama. I may not see them in the next life. Pray they change their minds in the voting booth!

Sure enough, these “partisan” pamphlets were all about Obama’s support of partial birth abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, homosexual marriage, etc.

If God can't speak IN His Church, HE will speak out of it. Think a mere man can stop the Almighty?

These pamphlets were a better witness than the priest. God bless and protect all those people who took the time to distribute it, and may every single Catholic who saw it vote for life. In the Name of Jesus, hear this sinner's humble prayer. Amen.

This priest is "God" in his own church and mind. He will be humbled in due time.

You know what, you’re probably right because they work on the “any reason is a good reason” premise.

Our Country Deserves Better than Barack Obama for our next president & Commander in Chief.

The Our Country Deserves Better PAC has one objective: to defeat Barack Obama in the 2008 presidential election. We won't be subtle or vague - America's future is at stake, and it's time someone stood up to Barack Obama and told the American people why this man cannot, and must not, serve as our next Commander in Chief.

We are going to give the American people the truth in no uncertain terms because that is what they expect, but haven't been getting from either the news media or many of our political leaders.
