EDITORIAL: What if Democrats win it all?
The Washington Times ^ | 10/31/2008 | Washington Times Staff

Posted on 10/31/2008 3:24:35 PM PDT by DoughtyOne

If Barack Obama is elected into office as the 44th president of the United States on Nov. 4 and voters, in tandem, give the Democrats 60 seats in the Senate and give them a solid majority in the House. What happens after Inauguration Day?

Single-party rule is inherently totalitarian whether the people consent to it or not. In most cases, one-party states rise out of authoritarian regimes, including former monarchies, or socialist revolutions. There are currently seven - China, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, Vietnam, Syria, Korea. The United States would become the eighth.

Single-party rule is something to fear in and of itself - particularly from a spending standpoint, regardless of which party has absolute power. From 2003 to 2005, George W. Bush and the Republican Congress created the largest expansion of Medicare in history the prescription-drug bill and started two wars. They also succeeded in creating the largest tax cut in history.

You're right.

We'll see how well Obama plays the role of fall guy (if he wins and that's a big if) as opposed to revered Messiah.

What if Democrats win it all?

All the movie stars that promised to leave the country if Bush won can now come back. Oh, wait a minute … never mind. ;-)

Don't count on Lieberman, he is a one trick pony - Israel. He is as socially liberal as any other Democrat, and will gladly vote for tax increases.

I agree. I just responded to another post above, that sounded a lot like yours. I think you’re on the right track.

BO might very well be impeached

Here you are wrong my friend. With his party in control of congress, Obama will have virtually unlimited power, unlike any previous President. The Democrats would not impeach him no matter what, and even if the Republicans regained control of Congress they're too cowed by PC to risk the charge that they impeached the First Black President. No, the only way to remove a lawless and overreaching President Obama would be by military coup.

Currently, I’m reading “The Civil War” narrative(s) by the late Shelby Foote. Would secession be an option, spearheaded by a state like Texas for example?

I think McCain/Palin will be announced the winner by 10:00pm PST. I posted that between two weeks and a month ago.

Yep, just like the old Soviet Union. Time for a break up. Soon there will be less states. BO’s legacy will be the break up

When I was young and first started voting, I began to see that voters wanted a balance of power - Republican president, Democratic congress. It made sense to me. It still does. Sometimes gridlock is a good thing.

RUSH:...I'm telling you, things are tightening up out there. My gut tells me this can be won. This is about turnout. This is about voting. This is about everybody showing up to vote. I am getting e-mails from people who are literally scared of what an Obama presidency will mean to this country. I have never seen this kind of fear among people. I mean what I got in reaction to President Clinton's candidacy in 1992 was nothing compared to the overall fear that I am seeing from people in the e-mail and when I talk to them personally about the election of Barack Obama. It's Doable: Just Turn Out and Vote
This will be a turnout election. So turn out and vote!

There’s a new slew of them that intend to leave. Heidi Klum and Seal have gone on the record. It’s sad really. These folks are so clueless.

Sometimes life’s lessons are rough and sometimes it takes a crisis to get people to wise up. The normal state of humanity is one of complacency (imho).

That is a fantasy.

The same old fantasy that many on FR sprouted for years as they joined with the Democrats to bring about America’s destruction - so they could joyfully wait for the knock on the door answering the fantasy call to come and save the nation. They expect the “uprisers” to turn over the dictatorship and then give them the keys to the kingdom to recreate the government.

Yeah right.

In reality - how often do you see a dictatorship turned into a democracy? How often do people make a revolution - especially those that so fear war they will do anything including turning their government over to an anti-war liberal to prevent being called to fight.

Please do not try that nonsense here. We are still reeling from the traitorous “teach the GOP a lesson” crowd.

One note - they thought they were “teaching the GOP a lesson” by sitting out a prior election because they were er....”unhappy with Bush”. But, in fact, the GOP wanted them out of the party. They do not want conservatives so, the “lesson” was exactly what the GOP wanted.

Glad they are gone. We need fighters, team players and workers who “put the country first” rather than their own personal wish lists. Those “sitters” are worthless to our effort. They will never stick, but will always destroy.

here’s hoping other Boma voters do the same thing

Do you think most Obama voters are smart enough to even understand the concept of checks and balances in government?

Sorry - you are wrong.

The dems do as the party tells them to do. They were wanting a dictatorship. They will now have it and Obama will not care one whit what they want. It will be what he wants.

We have seen the dems stick together now matter how corrupt a member is, you never see them trash their own.

So, don’t expect them to get any courage once they finally have their goal of power.
