EDITORIAL: What if Democrats win it all?
The Washington Times ^ | 10/31/2008 | Washington Times Staff

Posted on 10/31/2008 3:24:35 PM PDT by DoughtyOne

If Barack Obama is elected into office as the 44th president of the United States on Nov. 4 and voters, in tandem, give the Democrats 60 seats in the Senate and give them a solid majority in the House. What happens after Inauguration Day?

Single-party rule is inherently totalitarian whether the people consent to it or not. In most cases, one-party states rise out of authoritarian regimes, including former monarchies, or socialist revolutions. There are currently seven - China, Cuba, Eritrea, Laos, Vietnam, Syria, Korea. The United States would become the eighth.

Single-party rule is something to fear in and of itself - particularly from a spending standpoint, regardless of which party has absolute power. From 2003 to 2005, George W. Bush and the Republican Congress created the largest expansion of Medicare in history the prescription-drug bill and started two wars. They also succeeded in creating the largest tax cut in history.

Sin doesn’t work.

Gosh, I agree even without a "religious" background to give me fortitude to choose my tag line.

It isn't "rocket science".

DoughtyOne, you are most impressionable in my book anyway my FRiend.

That’s an interesting point. Clinton got 43% of the vote in 1992. Obama will have to earn a clear majority to win. (very close to 50% anyway)

That doesn’t bode quite as well for 2010.

Folks, if Obama can win in this nation and the public is comfortable with what he does, there isn’t anything that could have prevented it in the long run.

I think Obama is so flawed that people should have been able to see it. If they can’t and this nation goes down the tubes, then a great test will have come and gone. Man will have proven that given the best possible opportunity, he still couldn’t rule in a proper manner.

God is ultimately proven right here. Sin doesn’t work. Man is sinful, end of test.

If this nation falls out of a democratic republic, this world will meld down to the point only God can save us.

Sorry to go religious on folks, but that’s how I see it.

I couldn’t agree more. So very, very sad.

I’m with you on skeptic and problematic. I’m an optimist.

If they try to take stupid to a new level, we will see a new age Contract with America in two years. Hopefully, something somewhere will kick the GOP into doing something other than getting along, more than being bipartisan, more than bowing to the polls. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see the adults take charge?

What the hell just happened? The GOP had the House, the Senate, the White House, and a good balance of the Supreme Court... and they spent our tax monies like drunken sailors and pissed away our children’s futures, and the media built upon the hatred of them for doing so. To hell with their accomplishments. That’s the saddest part... so much good that was accomplished washed down the toilet due to arrogance and stupidity.

I don’t blame any ‘on the fence’ voters for going the other way, and you can bet the marxists counted on this.

Gonna be a tough pull here. Had we a candidate to rally around on his merits... different game.

I’ll vote McCain because the alternative is marxism.

The GOP has proven itself the stupid party once again.

Ping me when that does not happen, please.
We will need to plan.
Perhaps the Alamo...

Please do not try that nonsense here. We are still reeling from the traitorous “teach the GOP a lesson” crowd.

Oh, please, not this canard again. If it weren't for conservatives showing up in 2006, it would have been a much bigger blowout than it already was. Those that are being blamed for supposedly wanting to "teach the GOP a lesson" did no such thing. Please stop presenting this fiction at FR.

The MSM/DNC/Hollywood/Academia will bury us Tues, we are as good as dead.

And it will be for generations...if not forever, for Hussein will have the enemy installed in every level of government...they will have our intell, state secrets, judiciary, military and Treasury.

No simple election in 2 years will save us.

We will be completely underground.

What strategy? I think you may have responded to the wrong comment. I did not lay out a strategy in any way whatsoever, or mention any tactics, for that matter. I said what I think will happen, and why. I think the long knives are out already for Dirty Harry. Nor did I mention treaties or threats.

"The public voted for him twice."

BS!

Perot gave the WH to Clinton in 1992.

The Republican Party "Doled" it out in 1996.

Most of us who care are simply not going to vote for Republican status quo candidates who treat us all as if we were simply chumps.

It is time to move on from the impotent Republican Party.

Too bad Republican Party.

We hardly knew Ye.

The same thing that happened to the Republicans in 2006. They’ll go too far and the people will give control of Congress back to Republicans in 2010.

Nope. If you’re not underground already, you’re toasty. You think subpoenas won’t be honored by FR’s lawyers?

If we all stopped spending money we don't absolutely need to spend, we could bring the dims more economic trouble then they could ever imagine. No movies, no ballgames, no going out to eat...no spending!

yep, I'm out of debt. My work is entirely dependent on productivity... in other words if I don't go in, I don't get paid. I can cover my "nut", live off the rest and just wait it out.

I made a nice little payday when Clinton took office. I bought all the pharmaceutical stocks I could that tanked when Hillary tried to take over healthcare.

It was beautiful. I've been selling on the rallies for the last 3 to 4 years and just sitting on cash. I never "played" the flipping house scam or day trading bs.... just bought stocks and saved cash...

It ain't sexy, but I'm secure. I advise everybody to just hunker down and do what you need to do. Don't let the government dictate what you do, but since most of us on this board are conservatives, we can basically out work and out think the libs. We'll always come out ahead as far as money and security. They depend on a government nipple, we depend on ourselves and family. All you have to do to see what happens if you let the government take care of you.... look at the American Indian or the african-americans, by all means suck on the government nipple.

This might end up to be a moment like just before you go into a little fire fight. We're tough, we can take care of ourselves and what the heck, fighting is fun sometimes.... if we can hurt them by not spending, let's do it. if we can screw them by pulling all of our cash out of a bank... well that might be fun also.

"Good luck, keep your head on a swivel, watch your corners and I'll see ya, when I see ya...."

“obama winning and putting one or both clintons on the supreme court would be my worst case scenario”

I don’t think either of the Clintons are any where near left enough to suit B0.

My Reagan Democrat Dad, who passed away 9 years ago, would always vote for the opposite party for whom he voted for President, kinda of like” to keep things in check”.....here’s hoping other Boma voters do the same thing

No way would they do it, besides how can you depend on a Dimwit? does’nt make any sense a good commie is a dead commie as those German soldiers used to say.
