I have been an Independent for most of my life but this year I registered as a Republican.
A have a friend who I've known for 22 years. He is an Obama supporter.
He has ended our friendship because I am supporting McCain and not Obama.
He has gone so far as to say that I'm not the person he thought I was all these years. I am angry and sad and a little stunned.
Anyone else having similar experiences over the election?
Don’t dwell on what you’ve lost appreciate what you’ve gained by not having such a piece-of-shiite in your life anymore.
its always the left who break friendship with the right because they couldn’t stand ppl with differnet points of view. Its always the right who allow the left to be around. The left, esp the fascist types will shut up the right with violence
Your my boy Blue!
Hope you will find you have friends right here on Free Republic.
Welcome.
In nature - any creation of live things - sometimes we have to trim back the deadwood for the parent plant to survive.
In real life we have to rearrange our priorities and make adjustments along the way - and this often involves severing ties with long time friends who have chosen a different path than one which is important to us in our lives.
Value what you had - and perhaps one day it can return on equal terms - but remain true to yourself and wish your friend of another time - godspeed.
Liberterian9, post all the vanities you want.
We should be a meritocracy that doesn't look to seniority as a substitute for quality. Nice post!
I don’t get into with the one I know (mainly b/c I don’t want to get fired) but I just cannot understand how intelligent, wealthy people can vote for someone who is admittedly going to raise their taxes. (And a terrorist lover and etc.)
Does she believe all the lies about Sarah ?
actually I'm giving serious consideration to cutting off speaking and business with anyone who is supporting the big O
.
“but they have CNN on their big screens all the time and they are talking smack about politics all the while I am there”
That reminds me...5 years ago my half sister came for a visit and informed me Larry King was the BEST and the ONLY ‘news’ she would watch. She hasn’t been invited back.
Look, you have new friends here. And the friends you have here don’t believe in individual rights and freedom. Leave the socialists behind.
Lost a friend...in my case I chose to end it.
Last Saturday the ‘friend’ mentioned I had included her on several campaign emails. I know of only one or two that were sent to her. She said she ‘saved them.’ I thought that was an odd thing for her to have said and done.
If he based your friendship on politics, then it wasn’t much of a friendship to begin with. His loss. So much for the party of tolerance, eh?
He’ll be back if the one wins when everything goes to Sh!!.
not to worry ... I’ve lost a son. Well, not realy, but he’s decided for the most obtuse reasons to support Obama. Hopefully he grows up some between now and next Tuesday.
The same thing happened to my wife over Kerry/Bush. They haven’t really spoken to each other in four years. My wife was hurt but it really woke her up as to what real friends are and mean.
The thing I am proud about is that since that incident my wife has become even more conservative and has been bouncing around Denver with her McCain/Palin Tee-Shirt on at least once a week. She didn’t fall for the reach across the isle sell out.
