A Pittsburgh police commander says a volunteer for the McCain campaign who reported being robbed and attacked near a bank ATM in Bloomfield has confessed to making up the story. Police say charges will be filed. More details to follow.

Hold on everyone, don’t panic, this will probably not cost McCain the election, and if McCain does fail to win, this probably won’t be the reason. MSM may not even want to run this story because it would draw attention to the possibility of black on white violence, even though it turned out to be a hoax.
And I pasted the police description under the legit wire photo early in the discussion when it was said that it was her RIGHT cheek that had been scratched at a time that some were suspecting that the media had “flipped” the image, I never made the claim that the image had been faked, nor did I ever offer an excuse as to how to B came out backwards. (note to others: Her right cheek would appear on the Left side of a photo, just as her right hand would...)
Are those real bruises or makeup?
I never jumped the gun in claiming someone to be a fraud. Does she have a black eye or not? Does such a claim that it was "only makeup" if it wasn't “not matter” if such a claim is “fake but accurate” in that she still faked the assault so whatever the cause of her injuries “doesn't matter”?
I'm also the one who added the “boycriedwolf” and “boycryingwolf” keywords that I add to all such false reported claims, regardless of the target. She'll get prosecuted now for her hoax, as she should be.
She talks about Ron Paul on her myspace page.
Oddly enough, it just might help things. The media had zero willingness to cover this story while it was still considered valid, but as it's a hoax, they can now cover it as such. This brings it into the public mind, and the idea that it could happen, even as a copycat might be enough to get the mushy middle a bit worried.
Stories of vandalism to McCain-signed houses and cars will start to show up first on blogs, then in MSM stories. Whatever ties Hussein to violence will work in our favor.
From what I can tell, this is just a slime attack on Ron Paul. The girl on MySpace is a 23 year old Texas A&M supporter who claims to live in Texas, and the faked attack on 20 yr old Ashley Todd happened in Pittsburgh, PA. I could not see any evidence anywhere connecting Ashley Todd to Ron Paul or even to that MySpace page, except the allegations here.
If some one has more evidence than that dubious MySpace Page, then pony up -- or shut up, and quit slandering RP for no reason!
I am trained to assess patients.....just visually looking at that black of an eye and there is NO swelling? big red flag and clearly visible in the picture of her. training counts for something. as an EMT I treat and transport assault victims to the ER. I wasn’t a believer after the first hour last night.
I am a machinist who owns a mold shop. Easiest thing to do is get screwed up when working backwards like that with lettering.
I do it so much I actually have to stop and concentrate to figure out if I am working backwards or not, it is a common mistake here.

I’ll admit it- my blood pressure shot up 30 points when I saw that big red headline on Drudge about the “mutiliation” of a young woman. That’s a very emotional accusation, which means Drudge should have been extra careful before reporting on it.

We have no clue if she was ever really a Ron Paul supporter and we definitely have no idea how long she supported McCain. Lots of former Paul supporters have been supportive of McCain since the convention. All we have is some myspace page that probably isn’t even her (doesn’t look like her, the ages don’t match, and the college doesn’t match) that casually mentions Pauls name twice- and on that evidence you want McCain to just go shoot from the hip???
McCain shouldn’t say ANYTHING. He handled it perfectly already “how sad, hope she gets better soon” and now drop it. It’s not going to hurt him if he drops it. She’s a nutters and everyone knows they come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and parties.
She needs to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
