PITTSBURGH -- A 20-year-old woman who was robbed at an ATM in Bloomfield was also maimed by her attacker, police said.
Pittsburgh police spokeswoman Diane Richard tells Channel 4 Action News that the victim was robbed at knifepoint on Wednesday night outside of a Citizens Bank near Liberty Avenue and Pearl Street just before 9 p.m.
Richard said the robber took $60 from the woman, then became angry when he saw a McCain bumper sticker on the victim's car. The attacker then punched and kicked the victim, before using the knife to scratch the letter "B" into her face, Richard said.
Richard said the woman refused medical treatment after the assault, which happened outside the view of the bank's surveillance cameras.
The robber is described as a dark-skinned black man, 6 feet 4 inches tall, 200 pounds with a medium build, short black hair and brown eyes. The man was wearing dark colored jeans, a black undershirt and black shoes.

If a McCain supporter had done this to an Obama supporter, it would be an indictment of the Republican ticket and conservative thought in general. But since it happened to a Republican, it’s no big deal.

You are right -- an they shouldn't be willing unless they are prepared to shoot to kill.
It is total chaos. Many who talk tough will quickly experience a change of heart when confronted by hords of raging black people -- if it happens. It's quite intimidating, trust me. I've seen race riots where I grew up back in the 70's -- it is unlike anything you have EVER experienced.
Let the riot police handle them.
Vote early or find a safe way to get to the polls.
I am no cop, but what if he had her down on the ground knee on chest or face from the top of her head, it is not backwards as much as it is upsidedown...

I must admit I am skeptical of a setup from these B@$+@rD$, they are looking for someone to loose their cool and not keep their power dry....
That was the first thing I noticed and I’m sure the police did also. Her explanation/description of exactly how it was done will be very important to her credibility.
I note that she was struck from behind and knocked down, so it’s possible the mugger was standing over her from behind her head which would make it backward and the possibility that he used keys rather than a knife would explain why it’s shallow with no real cuts.
I’m praying for surveillance video that shows at least some corrabative elements even if the actual carving isn’t in view. One story says it wasn’t but others say they are still being reviewed.
I’m so hoping it’s not a faked attack.

Depends on which hair style I’ve decided on. Women generally don’t do the same thing day in and day out. It may also depend on whether we have a cowlick we have to work around.
If she were on the ground, the perp could have been leaning down from over her head while scratching her, making the ‘B’ upside down in the pic instead of backwards.
I’m not sure that is a blackened eye as much as it is smeared makeup from probable crying.

I parted mine on the left side until a hairdresser said that the part should be over the smaller eye.
In mainstream America it is a big deal.
If he had her in a stranglehold from behind with his left hand he would write a B with his right hand that would be “backwards.”

I’ll withhold judgement for now, but I don’t like what my instincts are telling me.
Unless she was out cold, if she was on her chest with the mugger kneeling behind her, and her face was turned to the right and that is why he was carving the B there, then I would expect to see bad road rash, cuts and contusions on the left side of her face and her chin.
Nobody calmly allows their face to be carved up. You don’t know if it is a key or a box cutter at the time, and you would thrash like the devil.
