I have an interesting story to relay that took place earlier this week between my boss (a senior VP in the company I work for) and one of the Obama campaigns' internal pollsters.
Just to note, my boss is a republican and was meeting the Obama rep over lunch for other reasons. Politics obviously came up due to his line of work.
He asked my boss what her political leanings were and they did some chit chat around the issues and the impressions each had on the state of the race. What happened next was more than fascinating and should be a reminder to all of us to buck up and remain strong. All is not lost. In fact, we may be in a much better spot than we think - despite the national polls and what the daily media drumbeat to give up.
He asked my boss what she thought about Sarah Palin. While my boss is a republican she hasn't been nearly as enamored with her as most of our base. She noted concern about Sarah's experience, but said that she is still voting for McCain.
As she was explaining her perspective it dawned on her to ask why he (the Obama internal pollster) was interested in her view of Palin. He replied that Obama's campaign is extremely nervous about the energized republican base and what he called the "unkown factor" regarding Palin's draw as a candidate.
In the polls they're conducting around the country, and my boss wasn't able to relay specific numbers, the Obama campaign is very, very worried about how Palin appears to be energizing whole groups of people who don't typically get energized about politics, precisely because she appeals so strongly to the middle class, as well as women and dissatisfied republicans that stayed home in 2006.
More than that, they don't know how to guage and predict the support of people typically turned off by politics, but that are enamored with her "up from the bootstraps" appeal.

How’s that for a start?
Yes, all of the debunked rumors about Sarah Palin are starting to get recycled again, including the vicious ones about Trig.

“Too bad our so called elites continue to aid our enemies.”
I’ll probably post at length about this once the election is over. But the reaction of the East Coast elites of both parties to Sarah Palin has been stunning.
For example, listen to the interview between Laura Ingraham and Heather McDonald.
http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=YTkwOGYyNjNhMmUwM2FlZTZkOTJmYzNkY2I2MDFmNmY=
Heather all but comes out and says what I’ve suspected has been at the root of this (and Laura comes awfully close to agreeing).
The subtext of the elites’ opposition to Palin is this:
“’Normal’ people are fine, as long as they know their place. We have no problem with them fixing our cars, fighting our fires, protecting our country, bagging our groceries, or cutting our hair. But, it’s unthinkable that any of them should ever dare to attempt to lead US. That stuff we spew about ‘the genuius of everyday American people’, the stuff Reagan used to speak about? We don’t really believe that crap. WE are the only natural leaders of this country.”
Ever since Palin entered the scene, I’ve gotten the same feeling I did watching the scene in Titanic when Jack is invited to dine with the tycoons. Although some were politely amused with him, there was an assumption by all that Jack did NOT belong at that table.
As a certified ‘normal’ person, this has been an eye opener for me. I’ve been amazed at the people who have outright said to me and the millions like me: you have no place at this table. Go away till we need to use you as a political prop.
This is why I am a broken glass Palin supporter (and will be in 2012, should Obama win). I will also embark on a crusade after the election to purge these elitists from the Republican party.
Saw that at the rally yesterday. Lots of women, young and old. Plenty of men who, while they might be conservative Republicans, probably wouldn't take the time off to go to a rally, but were brought along by women.
You mean people like Joe the plumber?
Very likely Black Racist Oblack is behind in the polls and after last night the base just got more fired up. The Lord is in Control.
Pray for W, McCuda and Our Troops
Pray unceasingly for intercession and mercy on this nation.
Especially if the pit bulls wore lipstick.
Last I heard he was playing the crowd in Scranton with the Clintons by his side. Shouldn't he have a lock on Scranton? It is his hometown. Combine this with Murtha's comments about western PA and that = trouble for Obama.
“Shes SOLD OUT.”
This is an angle lurking in the background. I’m hearing reports that nobama is only drawing a few thousand to his rallies. The MSM is only showing tight shots of nobama at rallies and not panning the scene to show the “crowds.”
We have pictures of nobama at a Green Bay rally last week, and there were many empty seats. Nobama is not playing well outside the big liberal cities. People in exurbia know nobama and aren’t interested in going to his rallies. Exurbia, areas outside the liberal cities, is where the election will be decided.
You forgot all middle aged men with normal testosterone counts.

LH, I like your thinking. When McCain/Palin win, the Moron Media will be thunderstruck. We will rejoice in the destruction of both the Soros Left and the Media Tools.
Lately, whenever I see Obama and Biden I start thinking George Jefferson and Ted Baxter.
This is exactly what I have been saying. In order for Obama to win, he has to have a “trifecta.” The media is in the tank more than ever for Obama because they know they have to do everything they can to even give Obama a chance.
The deep dirty secret is if conservative Republicans stay home, Obama wins. This is the only way he wins. This is why the left was pushing McCain so hard and so happy when he got the nomination. When Palin was picked then they knew they had big trouble because she is the one that can spark conservatives to the polls.
Please don’t get discouraged! McCain is going to win this thing in a landslide. It will be a huge battle to get there but it will happen.
I agree with you. I think McCain is going to take Pa.
