Pollsters say odds of McCain winning election are 'incredibly remote'

US pollsters today put John McCain's chances of overtaking Barack Obama in the final weeks to win the White House as extremely remote given the leads he has built up, the most recent putting him a staggering 14% ahead.

Polling experts expect the gap between the two to narrow as election day, November 4, draws closer, and some caution against a landslide win for Obama. But they regard the contest as effectively over barring some dramatic national security crisis.

"You are more likely to be killed by a meteor dropping on your head than McCain becoming president," said Professor Michael McDonald, who specialises in polls and election number-crunching at Virginia's George Mason University.

Pollsters said no US candidate has ever been as far behind as McCain at this stage in an election in recent political history and won. Once the electorate shifts in favour of a candidate, as it seems to have done over the last few weeks, it seldom moves again, they said.

Doug Usher, who was a pollster for John Kerry in his failed bid against President George Bush in 2004, is more cautious than many of his colleagues. He predicted a tightening of the race - especially since the instinct of the average US voter tends to be conservative - and that the US media would inevitably at some point write about an incredible McCain comeback.

Even so, Usher, who works for Washington, DC-based Widmeyer Communications, described McCain's chances of winning as possible but "incredibly remote". "There is only a one in 10 chance that McCain could overtake Obama. I think Obama is going to win but not by a landslide." Like other pollsters, he warned that some unexpected event could change the race: "What is endlessly fascinating about US politics, you...

True. And they have been blaming racism for Obama’s loss already as well.

Of course, republicans vote for the republican as expected.
The only racists to blame would be democrats or independents.

They're trying to accomplish two things with this garbage:

1.) Depress the GOP electorate, and stir up panicky conservatives to try to create a self-fulfilling prophecy.

2.) Ensure that there will be riots and demonstrations when Obama loses.

Our side should just ignore all their garbage completely.

Eyes on the prize, people!

An 0bama loss will mean riots, I’m sure...

But, they’ll just tear up their own neighborhoods, causing HUNDREDS of dollars in damages.

If their verdict is so accurate, let's mention that in the just concluded Canadian election, ONE pollster was anywhere near the actual result - Ekos. All the rest undercounted the conservative vote by 4% points. If anything, Obama's margin of error may well overstate rather than understate his actual level of support. This election is far from over!

The Guardian is the voice of the hard-left elite in the UK.

On most days, they make the NYT look sane and sober.

I’m telling you right now, if EVERYTHING broke perfectly for fauxbama he never had a chance of more than a squeaker chance of winning. Now I’ll admit things have broken a lot for the dems, but it hasn’t been PERFECT.

The idea he’s going to win by 14 points, or is up by 14 in polling is just laughable on its face.

You want to know the last time a democrat got over 50% of the vote in a 2 way race? Carter in 1976 when he got 50.1% after blowing a 30 point lead. And had Ford not gaffed in the debate, Carter would have lost.

Now, Lets look at margins.

Reagan beat Carter in 1980 by just under 10% of the vote, Clinton’s reelection victory was by about 8.5% of the vote. Do you or anyone else honestly think that Fauxbama is going to capture the vote with that sort of margin? Be serious. Its just not believable.

Stop worrying about the polls and fight hard, that’s all you need to do. Election day is going to be a painful day for pollsters if they don’t start applying some reality soon.

“You are more likely to be killed by a meteor dropping on your head than McCain becoming president,” said Professor Michael McDonald, who specialises in polls and election number-crunching at Virginia’s George Mason University.”

*******

Later on they cite pollsters who claim the Bradley effect has been declared null and void and that young people really will get out and vote this time. All this after citing today’s CBS polling numbers which have 0 up 45 points (+35 points from yesterday).

I need some more Kool Aid.

A BS article specifically designed to depress Republicans and nudge swing voters over to Obama’s side.

If you ask me, this is nothing more than flat-out, blatant interference in our electoral process.

>>The Media was calling the election for Kerry ELECTION MORNING in 2004<<

Even though the polls indicated that Bush was winning. 2008 is different, at least for now. McCain has a very difficult struggle ahead, mainly because so many voters are blaming him for their 401Ks going down by 30%-40%.

More to the point: if the election is over, why do they keep taking polls. After all, its open and shut, right?

I wonder if they’re counting me in their confidence. When an Obamabot came to my door and asked who I was voting for I said Obama. I shut the door and laughed. Fools

I wonder how many people who have been polled are flat out lying?

Keep in mind that the assertion, “You are more likely to be killed by a meteor dropping on your head than McCain becoming president,” impliedly means that one is likely, at some level, to be killed by McCain, should he become president.
