Everyone is out to destroy Palin - but it's Obama's past we should examine
Daily Mail ^ | Oct. 12, 2008 | Melanie Phillips

Posted on 10/12/2008 2:47:30 PM PDT by AuntB

With all eyes glued to the collapse of global capitalism ... attention has been somewhat distracted from the race to lead what still remains the most powerful nation on earth.... We ignore it at our peril.

From the shockingly partisan presentation by the pro-Obama media on both sides of the Atlantic, you'd think this was a contest between twin pillars of rectitude and inspirational high seriousness on the Democratic side, and a joke Republican ticket consisting of an erratic old man and a brainless, wacko, gun-toting beauty queen, who in a fit of madness John McCain picked as his vice-presidential candidate.

Unfortunately for the Democrats, the beauty queen in question, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, has struck an enormous chord with Middle America. As a result, Barack Obama's media supporters are making a huge effort to destroy her..........

..... Obama is at the centre of a network of radical associations which he has tried to conceal......

Obama's own political career was actually launched in Ayers's Chicago house at a fundraising-event in 1995 which fired the starting gun for his run at the Illinois Senate......

Through the Woods Fund, Obama also funnelled millions of dollars to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Described by an academic sympathiser as 'a uniquely militant organisation', ACORN played a significant role in the sub-prime scandal - which detonated America's financial crisis ......

But Obama's connections with ACORN go even deeper. Even though his campaign has denied this, for several years running he trained its activists and in 1992 even ran one of its voter registration projects........

The reason Sarah Palin has struck such a chord is that Middle America sees her as the first candidate in its lifetime who stands against that destructive nihilism.....

Sarah Palin, because of who she is, has caused great fear
amongst the liberal elites and their minions (the MSM) and that is
why they are out to destroy her. They are blind to Hussein's
“indiscretions”! He could get away with murder right now!

In 1996, the New Party exulted that one of its members who had just been successful in the political primary season was - Barack Obama.

This has not been broached by any U.S. MSM outlet whatsoever.

Oh, you should see some of the vitriol aimed at me for daring
-oh, my the vapors!!!-to ‘bad mouth’ Ubama (just spelling it like that has them up at arms, yes, those same people who write “McLame” and “McSame”, etc)—said I should nurse my babies because my milk would ‘poison’ them because of my political beliefs. Gosh, can you feel the liberal ‘tolerant’ love, LOL? :-)

Brit journalism is generally just as bad as American journalism. Melanie Phillips, the fine author of this posted article, is the exception.

Not so. The British MSM will publish stories even if they furrow the brow of a Democrat. The U.S. MSM will not touch any such story. The Obama "New Party" revelation hasn't been reported by any US source. So predictable is the US media to ignore, and the British to cover, negative Dem news stories, I even called it several days ago:

It’s [Obama's New Party membership] moving off slowly to other media types.

I'm not so sure. It is still only on right leaning blogs. Not even on talk radio as far as I can tell...

I'm not sure what will tip it to the next level of Drudge/Fox/New York Post/Washington Times. It is already fully sourced, so there is nothing to wait for. Another alternative is British newspapers, as they like a good story, and unlike the US MSM, do not style themselves Obama sedan bearers.

I didn't know Governors were saluted...

I didn't, either. Could these be Alaska National Guard sailors, perhaps, who are under the command of the governor unless and until their units are federalized?

Whenever any of this surfaces, the Left tries to suppress it by screaming 'guilt by association'. Not so. This is guilt by participation.

The left is tricky. I like what Steyn said about reverend Wright. He called him a neo-segregationist. That's a powerful phrase and catchy. It should be used by the McCain camp someday soon, like before election day.

This may sound too incredible for words. But what's really incredible is that, with dozens of reporters feverishly combing Alaska for any evidence to tarnish Sarah Palin, the mainstream media has largely refused to investigate any of this.

Thank you, Ms. Phillips, for doing the job our pathetic major news outlets will not.

Thanks for the ping, AuntB. You are absolutely right — this article covers it all, and covers it in an entirely unbaised light, unlike the American mainstream media.

It would appear that the recent ruling on what the media like to call ‘Troopergate’ has provided them with the piece they needed to have on the right of their ‘balancing act’.

They are now using it to decry ‘mud slinging’ — claiming that it’s time to stop campaigning in the lowest common denominator, and take issues like Obama’s association with Ayers, and Palin’s ‘Troopergate’, off the table.

As if the two issues are of equal magnitude and scope! A candidate’s close association with an unrepentent terrorist is somehow equivalent, in their jaded eyes, with the justifiable firing of a dangerous, violent man who isn’t fit to serve in law enforcement in the first place.

And what is saddest of all is that the majority of the electorate won’t see through their ruse.

American journalism affects to be objective, which - considering the superficiality and negativity which inheres in making your living talking about what just happened - is actually absurd. The perceived "objectivity" of American journalism is simply a reflection of the unity imposed on journalism by the imperatives of reliance on news from outside the region covered by the reporters of any given newspaper.

Leftism is simply the demand for respect and deference made by people who have little or no credentials for running ANYTHING, but who are great at criticizing and second guessing. The affinity of reporters who do nothing but criticize for politicians whose claim to fame is simply their ability to criticize the businessmen, military personnel, and policemen upon whom we all depend to get necessary things done is quite natural; what else should we honestly expect?

The situation this article so admirably describes is therefore only too understandable. And only too dangerous.
