GALLIPOLIS, Ohio (WSAZ) -- Ohio GOP officials announced Friday that Governor Sarah Palin, the vice-presidential nominee on the Republican ticket, will make a stop in Gallipolis Sunday on a tour of Southern Ohio.

Governor Palin will start her day in Huntington, West Virginia, before heading to Gallipolis and Marietta in Ohio. She will wrap up her day in St. Clairsville, Ohio for a rally.

There are no details just yet on the nature of the stops in Gallipolis and Marietta.

It is great that she is going to be in Gallipolis. But, why is she starting the day in West Virginia ? Obama has no chance there. Does the McCain campaign believe WV is in doubt ?

if WV is in doubt then it’s over.

What Palin should be doing is throwing McCain under the bus...she should be visiting places and setting herself up for 2012. The campaign is over is WV is needing a visit.

I guess the PUMA’s forgot to let the McCain people know they were purposely lying to pollsters.

There is no way, absolutely no way WV goes to BHO.

What I don’t understand is why she is going to two fairly small towns in Ohio. I’m sure there is a strategic reason but being from Missouri myself I wouldn’t know what those reasons might be. What are your thoughts?

The McCain campaign has ignored Southeast Ohio up til this point. Every single vote here will counter the Obama fraud in Cleveland. I think they are using Sarah to secure the base and McCain to go after the swing voters.

Huntington is probably the closest airport to those Ohio towns that can take her campaign aircraft (I’ve been through Gallipolis and it’s pretty small). Plus it’s a border city with Ohio AND Kentucky, so it will pull voters from three states.

I see. That makes sense.

Gallipolis is on the border of Ohio and West Virginia by the way.

Because he can't win Ohio without white small towns going for him.

In 2004, out of 88 counties in Ohio, Kerry only won seven or eight, and those included cities like Columbus, Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo. Rural Ohio decides for the state. There are 11.5 million people in the state, and fewer 35% live in the big "Three C" cities.

Hope you all don’t mind me stepping in.

Many posters have hinted around about the same subject.
Why is the McCain/Palin campaign visiting areas that are not key strategic election sites?

Specifically, why is Governor Palin visiting such cities and towns?

Here’s the answer: The McCain/Palin campaign is not playing any games. Sarah is visiting the ‘people’ of America, especially the places that the MSM and DEMS consider ‘low value targets’.

She is doing it because she considers those voters as important as voters in CA, or NY, or TEXAS.

Because she would be sharing the responsibility for the entire country, as VP, and not just for Hollywood or Harlem.

I think that her choice of campaign sites is very telling about the way that McCain and Palin would handle the responsibility for the highest elected office in our country.
