PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

Yes...LOL!!!

By way of explanation; Dave Kingman was evidently a baseball player that was known for hitting a home run and then swing at balls in the dirt for several at bats after that.

"Iceshaving" compared McCain' debate performance to Kingman. I had answered him - basically in the affirmative although I had no idea who Kingman was.

My reply, however, was germane to your post. You had pointed out - McCain just kicked Obambi’s butt by saying we can do healthcare and energy at the same time! I was basically agreeing and pointing out there is a conservative answer to Obama....we can do multiple things at once if it is not a totally government run, socialist approach.

Cheers - all is right with the world. Except, it's still up to Palin to save McCain's campaign.

I dont think we will see an 0bama meltdown in a debate because he is smart enough to simply agree with McCain when he knows he is in over his head.

If pressed hard, perhaps he could, but it would be unlikely. Still, 0bama definitely does have NPD, in my layman's opinion.

What was cool about the handshake was that the Navy guy initiated it.

Exactly! I'm sure Tom will get yelled at for having let that guy slip in.

“When the questions turned to foreign policy, it was like the air was let out of Obama’s tires (how fitting).”

I also think Obama must have ADD.

It happened at the last debate too - towards the end of this one and the last one he just started these stream of consciousness meandering tangential incoherent answers.

I stop listening after awhile and just watch his mouth go “blah blah blah”

My question is did you post it as a post in a forum?

Nope. I've never posted there. I lurk on "big" nights like this...

Tonight, McCain has out-and-out LOST my vote.

When he picked Palin I was back on board for a while. But I was gone on the bailout vote. I can't vote for anyone who votes for the absolute worst, most socialistic, mentally addled bill ever to appear on the floor of the Congress.

I have been voting since 1980 and have never voted for anyone but a Republican.

The Republican party had conservative choices. But it shied away from them to choose the "media darling" figuring he would have an easier time. Now they know how fast the media turns on a "media darling".

Next time a monstrosity of a bill like the bailout comes up I would advise Republicans to behave like Republicans should.

I would advise the Republican Party to go back and look at the Reagan/Carter electoral map and do a lot of thinking in the next two years.

McCain get good points for saying he learned from a chief petty officer. GOOD Officers do.

BAD officers act like Barack Obama self centered, cock sure, despotic and disrespectful of the men in his charge

What the heck is going on on FNC?

Why is the Obama supporter calling Hannity an anti-Semite? Is the the New Tone from the Obamaa Campaign?

Why is Alan Colmes so silent? Colmes always (up to now), jumped in to cut off these people in the past?

Colmes now just defended Hannity. Why is the Obama camp sending this person out after the debate to defend Obama by using anti-Semite charges?

My children will be carrying their little flag, following me right into the room to wait for Mommy to vote, the way they’ve done the last two times.

I was homeschooling our two younger children, who were in Middle and High school, when the election of 2004 rolled around. I brought them right into the booth with me to show them what the ballot looked like and how the voting was done! Great civics lesson!

My wife was livid to hear McCain say he will let people renegotiate the price of their homes. I hear ya, but this is already well underway.

FWIW, the "renegotiation" would take place after the gov't had bought the bad loan from the lender for face value.

The idea -- which isn't all bad -- would then be to get at least some of the bad loan back by allowing the borrower to renegotiate.
