PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE #2 LIVE THREAD
10/07/08

Posted on 10/07/2008 2:01:24 PM PDT by TornadoAlley3

While the two presidential candidates, Senators John McCain and Barack Obama, prepare for their second debate on Oct. 7 at Belmont University in Nashville, Tom Brokaw gets to sift through questions submitted by you. In addition to queries from a group randomly selected by the Gallup organization, Brokaw will be fielding questions submitted online at mydebates.org, the site created by the Commission on Presidential Debates and Myspace. The focus of the town hall-style debate will be domestic and foreign policy, Brokaw's specialties.

I really wish McCain would get over his panic on this economy and actually spend the weekend with some real ecomnomists....

Yeah. But McCain’s bit about nationalizing home mortgages kills the free enterprise system. Uncle Sam is going to renegotiate your mortgage!

I'll say tomorrow. He did a half-decent job of setting him up. I'll be quite, quite disappointed if McCain himself doesn't come down with much more of the truth that we FReepers all know, in the next three days.

Accordingly, the GOP will be well positioned to recapture one or both chambers in 2010.

Sounds familiar. The GOP said that in 1932. And 1934. And 1936. And 1938. And 1940. And 1942. And 1944. And 1946.

Sometimes, losing leads to more losing.

To say that we “all” wanted Romney was insulting, not all of us are so easily fooled by a liberal car salesman.

Did anyone else hear Kondracke say that neither of them clearly answered the Israel question?

Am I misremembering when I say that Sen McCain position was - absolutely we would act if necessary and not wait for the UN security council since China and Russia would roadblock any sort of decisive action?

I channel surfed a few times before coming to the computer.

Every single time there was O speaking. Seems everyone was right, he hogged the night.

Doesn’t seem to have done him any good.

The Democrats are the future. It is unfortunate, but true. New Americans are dependent Americans and will vote for the party of government over and over and over again. Limited government is gone for good.

‘McCain needed to connect with the voters tonight....’

exactly. imho, that’s a large part of the problem for McCain. Obama comes across so smooth and brings issues to the level of the ‘average citizen’. McCain just doesn’t seem comfortable talking to everday people. Of course, McCain has substance......but, sadly, lots of people are taken by style even when there’s no substance....or even if socialism is staring them in the face.... And, I agree......God help us if Obama is elected.

It was like Gore invading the space of Bush. Media saw nothing wrong with it but voters sure did.

Oh well. I have no idea when this contract will expire, according to the posted rules it’s supposed to be expired already.

Looks like Obama won the debate according to Intrade.

Politics - Presidential Debates
Which candiate will benefit more from the second Presidential Debate?

McCain does not want to peak too early. Typically, the GOP does not win a presidential election until after the debates are completed, at which point paid advertising transcends months of sustained MSM bias. We are still in this race.

Get lost, no true conservative wanted Mitt Willy.

Well, I wanted Fred Thompson, too, but too bad Fred didn't want the job himself. He didn't even make an effort, and I have in-person evidence, from myself and several FReepers across the country. Fred had NO interest in running for President. Fred is on with Hannity & Colmes now... it's really nice to see him wide-eyed and awake, which is not how he appeared during the primaries.

So you’ve conceded the election? Good, go away, we don’t want you here until after the election at the earliest. We’ll win without you.

Hey, I hope I'm wrong - look at my tagline at what we will be facing. I just don't see the point in engaging in "happy talk" over what was a pretty disasterous debate for McCain tonight. I call it like I see it, warts and all.

And he wants to FINE small businesses who can’t insure their employees! Is anyone listening to this crap!”

No SH*T Sherlock! Obama was showing himself to be the freaking Marxist SOCIALIST dictator he would be!!!!

“FINE” the people for noncompliance!!!!

Have to agree. We saw McDole tonite, just refuses to take off the gloves. It didn’t help that he didn’t explain the Fannie Mae issue very well being it was asked by a Black guy. Thought he did terrible.

Pray for W, Palin/McCain and Our Troops
