Fresh evidence tonight that the brilliant McCain campaign strategy to lock away the political effervesence of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin to stoke overconfidence among the nation's Democrats and set the stage for yet another improbable Arizona comeback is working exactly as planned.
For more than 10 days now the 44-year-old mother of five, who upset the ancient Republican establishment in Alaska two years ago by driving herself to campaign events and talking to pretty much any group that would have her, has been cut off from normal Americans who watched her by the many millions give a spunky speech at the Republican National Convention and then overnight turned her name into seven of the top 10 search terms on Google.
But John McCain's strategists had a better idea than letting Palin be Palin. They set her up with TV reporters born to ask questions until they found some she couldn't answer.
No doubt the campaign's idea was to show the hockey mom was pretty much like any other American who couldn't recall Marbury v Madison if their cellphone depended on it.
Wait, come to think of it, the other vice presidential candidate didn't cite a famous Supreme Court case by name either. But nevermind. We don't want to confuse the conventional Palin story line.
So the pressure is even greater for Thursday night's sole vice presidential debate between Palin and Democrat Joe Biden, the senator from somewhere who wears his hair down pretty much all the time.

Don’t you liberals know socialism doesn’t work?
It doesn’t matter what you liberals say.Voting for Palin shows I am for small government you Marxist.
I will vote for Sarah Palin. Why don’t you support Palin. Oh that’s right you are a phoney.
You are wasting your time , Liberal. You can’t change our minds with your “logic” lol lol lol.
God bless and keep Sarah Palin and America and human freedom.
Go Sarah! Win that debate tonight!
You want Obama, who is a Muslim,Marxist, and an anti-American terrorist elected as the President ,commanding our troops.
That’s why you are propagandizing and spining against Mccain you liberal. You don’t fool me.
This is by the LA Times. Just more lies.
This forum at times runs on the issue/rumor of the moment..... Sometimes several different ones per day and each time there are those that state this is the last straw as if that straw was more important than the overall concept of governance.
In our scheme of government we will either have Obama or McCain as the next President. Our better chance at making major and long lasting changes in the course of this nation lies in changing the Congress.
I usually listen to Levin on XM, but I’m not always in the car. You can probably find an internet audio stream of the program, too.
I guess you had better wake up and smell the coffee or better yet... grow up, your insults are childish.
Thanks for a little sanity on this thread. Sheesh...
I used to listen to his live stream when I had a computer in the kitchen.
Now I catch him when I can!
Obama scares me to death! He will let the terrorists, both outside and within, take over our beloved country and burn our Constitution!
I will never waste my vote so Obama can win!
I think McCain is living up to his reputation of being unpredictable. It’s not worth handing the election to Obama. Geeez. Governor Palin could give some here a lesson in keeping things in perspective. This lady has be BBQ’d and flogged in the media since she was picked and she hasn’t given up. Good grief. So it’s uncomfortable right now,,,that’s MOSTLY because of the MEDIA coverage. The media tongues wag with outrageousness and the cameras only cover the loudest, most obnoxious groups. Thus the existence of the “silent” majority. The media has people believing if the cameras and MSM don’t mention you, you don’t exist. That’s total BS! Fight it!!! Remember what McCain said,
STAND UP!
STAND UP!
FIGHT!
Do NOT let the media defeat you or us!
And one more note - wasn’t it the conservatives who ‘sat out’ or voted third party in the 2006 elections that helped the DEMS take control of the House and Senate? Helped, not caused, but helped. Come on you guys, you are being played like puppets of the media. This disheartening belief is exactly what the country does NOT need right now! It is what the media and the DNC want you to do though, so, resist it with every fiber in you!!
Either way, we get socialism. Maybe you are the socialist.
I’m tired of being offered the choice of a Demopublican socialist vs a republicrat socialist. I’m voting none of the above. Maybe in four years the Republicans will remembery why they were successful in the past.
Don’t try to tug my heartstrings about the military. With what will be spent by either party on everything BUT the military, we won’t be able to afford the military.
Is FR a conservative forum, or a Republican appendage? I suspect the latter, from the flaming responses my posts have been getting.
I’d vote for Sarah, if I could vote for her, and not McCain. I’ll watch the debate. Maybe she can convince me that she can keep McCain on the right side of the aisle. I doubt it. He’s gone to the wrong side on the bailout. It’s as if he wants to lose.
I stand by my post about the military —In fact I don’t think the average American is worth the sacrifices they make now
And there ain’t gonna be any republic in 4 years when Obama gets done with the courts
You wanna put you head in the sand and think you are not going to be affected go ahead
