The cable news networks are standing by for a press conference by House Republicans on the bailout bill. It should start some time after 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Precisely. Just do the right thing and let the chips fall as they may.
Crowds demand conformity. You bet they are being pressured. But, should a man be man, there is no pressure at all. Except to be honest in judgment, earnest in action and with an steady heart accepting the outcome of Providence.
So far gotta say I like what the Huckster is saying.
Actually, Obama's spokesperson, Burton, said today on FNC that O wouldn't come back to DC for the vote if his vote wasn't necessary for passage (which it won't be). McCain's spokesperson said pretty much the same thing.
It was Thaddeus who said it.
I just switched to Fox Business channel.
That makes sense. If "time is short," and the genesis of the legislation is the Paulson/Bush plan, once the "back room negotiation" has wound down, with Senator Gregg on board, then it's time to twist arms and feed their party mouthpieces with the talking points.
McCain can don the mantle of bipartisanship and congratulate those who reached across the aisle to pass this necessary bill - and congratulations to Congress (and particularly to the YEA voters) for a job well done! Oh, if you vote NAY, the party will shun you, and we'll deny making the threat.
I don’t know.They just look scared.
Whatever has happened, the political leaders of our country are absolutely overcome by fear and it is a national disgrace to be acting in such haste and cowardice.
Ironically, the entire world economy might very well be on the verge of collapse and these people don't have any confidence in their own work.
We could very well be on the verge of establishing a new nation or group of nations within our present geographic boundaries.
I am against this bill but I ain’t going to be the one to tell my mother and mother-in-law they are broke! GOD help us all if this is true!
This the Paulson plan with a costume. Any republicans that sign on needed to be signed out come election day. If this passes then it is over for America anyways.
Xacly. We are unrepresented tax paying no shows.
Our guys don’t owe Bush, McCain, or any other liberal/moderate Republican anything. Conservatives have been dumped on over and over again. I would suspect trying to pressure them is like pushing on a string. I really don’t see what Conservatives have to lose by standing on principle on this thing and demanding if something is going to be done it be done their way. Period.
I admit we haven't read the bill yet, but my husband thinks that might refer to U.S. subsidiaries of those foreign banks which are regulated by U.S. regulators.
Amen.
That's exciting!
It's a shot across the bow from House Republicans.
Hey, I thought the Skins would be 0 and 4 by now. I believe in miracles.
McCain needs to side with conservatives on this one.
