“The people” are not very bright or very wise, in case you haven’t noticed. You might have gathered this fact from Obama leading in the polls or, more generally, from the terrible and mediocre things that “the people” like these days.

That’s right. There is something else going on here, but I don’t know what.

The pressure on McCain to pass this bill is enormous. That said, he has been known to stand on principle for an unpopular decision many times before.

It might cost him the election, though, and then we'd all be subject to Obama. So I can understand why he might be forced to vote for it.

McCain may have to (once again) take one for the team here.

Obama is covering his butt as usual, saying "I'm voting for it, but I'm not happy about it." Puh baby.

Why do you want to bail out Deutsche Bank and Bank of China with US Taxpayer dollars?

MSNBC reporting on Pelosi's "insistence" on having a significant number of Republicans sign on to the bill for political cover. That just doesn't wash with the rhetoric that this is a "good bill," or even a "necessary evil." If it's good, or if it's necessary, then no cover is needed.

Anyway, I guess this situation and the political reaction to it just reinforces my point of view that on the most substantive of matters, there is very little difference between the parties, and one ought to have an opinion regarding a politician driven by personal identification, not party identification.

The bill is a done deal, IMO. The only issues the politicians are really fighting over is which of them will vote for it, and whether or not the statutory language provides adequate cover for their lying talking-point rhetoric.

And Russia is going to help Venezuela develop nuclear power for energy. We need McCain now more than ever. Obama will be madness. The stock market needs to stablilize and the economy needs to avoid a severe recession this year. It is going to be close. Why do people not see the bigger picture ? The Democrats control Congress. If Obama wins none of this will matter at all. They will have no influence whatsoever. The next set of elections will be even more unfair to Republicans and there will be 40 years in the wilderness and conservatism will be an artifact of history because whatever emerges then will not resemble what we want now.

He’s saying Bush and McCain are going to be twisting arms to get this POS signed.

Quoting Reagan now.

Thanks!

Well, color me paranoid, but I can already see a problem with pages 25 and 26, the Foreclosure Mitigation Efforts.

Couldn't that just become another slush fund?

Whenever Bush and the Democrats are on the same side on an issue, you have to deduce there is something else going on here that we don’t know what it is.

25 Democrat seat warmers sitting in seats from GOP districts. THEY WILL NOT VOTE FOR THIS WITHOUT GOP COVER.

THAT is the problem. She can’t get her own people to vote unanimous because those 25 know they’ll be booted in Nov.

Uh, this is a Democrat, no scratch that, this is a socialist bill. There will be no end to socialism in America if we allow this to pass. Best take our lumps now and enjoy our freedom while we still have it.

Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank, et al, are loving it. Bush and Paulson are making their socialist dreams come true. Obama’s already taking credit for saving America from the Great Depression ver 2.0! There will be no stopping them now.

Never mind the other risks. The world, overall, isn’t in very good shape right now. One wonders, for example, how China’s leaders might respond to a domestic crisis of the sort that this could bring on.

Give me a break. That kind of fearmongering is right out of the 'Rat playbook. The geopolitical nonsense spouted by people thinking the way you are has the gang at the Bank of China raising their glasses and toasting Pelosi and Obama.

They’re going to think the same thing that they think now: socialist welfare for wall street is stupid. Of course the market will go up temporarily. The government will have proven that there is no risk in capitalism anymore. What happens when Fortis fails next week? This bailout doesn’t address that issue. What happens then?

So, what you are advocating is somehow trying to buy this election on the backs of our children and grandchildren by doing something that like 80% of the public is against. Something that makes both parties part of the problem. When both parties are part of the problem, people vote for Democrats. We need to be the solution, not the problem.

The Dems with close House races want to vote against it so their butts will be covered.

You are reading a draft of the bill. The final bill does not include any funding at any percentage to HTF or any other socilistic outfit.

You’re very actively pressing your view- I wonder if you’ve considered the market may crash even when the bill is passed?

So do you support buying the Bank of China’s toxic mortgage backed securities, too?

I think it's enough that we buy their toxic pet food, toothpaste, baby milk... I think we've done our part for China's toxics already.
