The cable news networks are standing by for a press conference by House Republicans on the bailout bill. It should start some time after 6:30 p.m. EDT.
Perhaps we’re due for a 4 year jimmy carter pause. Personally, that’s the LAST thing I want but, sometimes, you give up alot to gain alot. I really would rather see this bill fail and GOD FORBID, have an obama in the WH for 4 years, than set ourselves up for a completely socialistic society.

Paulson is a Democrat. He’s the one who sent the message to get McCain to the White House. Then had his staff send talking points to Obama in an ploy to make it look like Obama was in charge. Obama couldn’t manage it, bungled his lines. Meeting a disaster...thus all the D’s frantic yapping.

I have no problem with that. I still think McCain is on his way to winning this issue over BO. At minimum, McCain has neutralized an issue that could have been disastrous.
For all the media pundits saying that BO is walking away with this election, why are he and Biden spending most of their time in MI, IA and WI? All three should be locked up by now, if they are so far ahead, as according to MSM.

I just don’t know how they can spew this stuff with a straight face. They should have the grace to look a little bit ashamed of themselves, but not a glimmer.

So your saying if we do nothing (which is the right thing) economy will get bad and vote for Obama thereby dooming us .
But if we vote for this scam, economy will temporaily improve, allowing McCain in, before our taxes are raised, the dollar becomes worthless, and the depression starts.
Someone should also check into the conversations Paulson had with Warren Buffett leading up to this legislation. Buffett will make a killing with his Goldman holdings with the bailout.
Well, because of the delays that we’ve had already and the heightened public mood, I would suggest that we’re less than forty-eight hours from possible serious civic disorders if things really start to fall down.
Has anyone here ever worked, never mind on a trading floor or whatever, but in a retail bank? I used to work in operations for a small bank - and let me tell you, the modern banking system will not survive bank runs.
Most ATM’s have, oh, $40,000 at the most in them. A lot of branches have, at most, a few hundred grand in cash on hand.
It’s a very clear line, at this point, between embarking upon the insane course that some here are blindly determined to follow and the need to send the Army into major cities to quell civil disorder.
