Well, because of the delays that we’ve had already and the heightened public mood, I would suggest that we’re less than forty-eight hours from possible serious civic disorders if things really start to fall down.

Has anyone here ever worked, never mind on a trading floor or whatever, but in a retail bank? I used to work in operations for a small bank - and let me tell you, the modern banking system will not survive bank runs.

Most ATM’s have, oh, $40,000 at the most in them. A lot of branches have, at most, a few hundred grand in cash on hand.

It’s a very clear line, at this point, between embarking upon the insane course that some here are blindly determined to follow and the need to send the Army into major cities to quell civil disorder.

Is it likely that if banks start failing other banks will not buy them up?
