What is ‘economic damage’? Our representatives are elected to represent US, not economic well-being in general or Messrs. Dow and Jones or any fund managers who have been asleep at the wheel. I feel bad for anyone hurt by a slide in the DJIA, but it is not the job of the legislative branch to try to prevent this — if it were even possible.

Thank you for the correction.

“NOW is the time for us/McC to start blasting the airwaves with what ACORN is, it’s long connection to Voter fraud and the many states in which voter fraud connected to ACORN has already surfaced this year and THEN the reminder that Obama worked with AYERS in ACORN for 7 years = So THIS is what a Chicago Community Organizer does? “

Why the hell doesn’t McCain?

Why must we ALWAYS be the “stupid party”?

I hope they bury the rats with this nonsense.

Na, House Republicans rarely even talk about the Rats...you see, like McCain....their strategy is to cream Pres Bush.

And its working so well that McCain and the Republicans are getting their arses kicked.

But Republicans always follow leftwing MSM advice, to run against Bush, and not the Rats.

We are in dangerous territory folks. The “Market” by now has learned that they can get our political Elite to do anything they want if they scream loudly enough. This does not bode well for the future. We have become so fixated on the economy and obsessed with prevening a recession that we are willing to spend hundreds of billions of dollars. And we are giving it to the same set of genuiuses who have pissed away our fortune and outsourced our manufacturing capability over the last 25+ years. These “Masters of the Universe” need to be flushed and replaced with an untainted set of leaders.

I know there are many Freepers who (honestly) think the bailout package is a necessity. However, I fear the precedent it sets will ultimately make the cure worse than the disease.

The RATS don’t intend for there to be anything to be settled before the election. Should be clear by now.

According to Obama this morning, the “bailout” funds now been expanded to target “community banks” that serve lower and middle income people. Thus, such banks will continue to be required to make bad loans and the meltdown will be allowed to go on indefinitely.

“That’s why we must swallow socialism to avoid calamity.”

What is socialism in the http://www2.nationalreview.com/dest/2008/09/28/paulsonsidebyside.doc bill as outlined in the link?

See http://corner.nationalreview.com/post/?q=NjBmMmI3YTExNjAzNjVhMjgwZjU0M2RlMzBhZmQ4NzM= for more FACTS to base your assertions on.

FICA is social security, not income tax. The republicans are talking about FEDERAL income tax, not state or local, but your federal income tax. Most of the low income people get tax credits and do not pay the federal income tax.

There are many more 'closet country club' Democrats than Republicans.

I spoke to the (very nice) lady in John Boehner's office a few hours ago, and we had a nice conversation. I told her I would like to buy a nice, little house, but I don't want every other American in the country to buy it for me. I also told her that I would like to keep my piddly little retirement fund, but not on the backs of my children, grandchildren and generations to come. My parents lived through the Great Depression, and told some interesting stories about that lifestyle. If it comes down to selling out totally to socialism versus losing some of my little bit of financial nest egg... well, I was born free and I want to keep it that way.

Pelosi called House GOP “unpatriotic” for not attending negotiations to which they were not invited. Politics has devolved markedly this election season. The problem is that the media has such a vested interest in a progressive ascendancy that the Dems get away with it.

“Why doesn’t McCain mention the fact, during the debates, that it’s an impossibility to only raise taxes on people making $250k a year or more because there simply are not enough of them to tax?? Why didn’t he point that little simple piece of information out?”

It’s WRONG information. What fuels our economy is SMALL BUSINESS. Small businesses are the folks making 250K or LESS. Ever hear of start-ups? Sure they get venture capital but they aren’t making a profit right away and fall into the category of the 250K class or LESS. 80% of business out there are SMALL BUSINESS.

Obama is now lecturing us on how he is SAVING us from this mess.

“I said we cannot and will not bail out Wall Street without helping main street stay in their homes. I will not let this plan become a welfare program for Wall Street.”

“We need a plan for auto worker’s”

“We need a plan for teachers”

“We need a plan for........

“Shine a light”

`The best disinfectant is sunshine.’ Louis Brandeis

The bi-partisan bail-out shills may keep saying that the reason for their break-neck, imprudent pace is—recall that they were working (and on the weekend!) and wanted something to give to Congress a week ago today, on Monday, the start of Autumn, 9/22—that Wall Street is about to have a collective nervous breakdown, but the real reason could be something else.
Why does this mess have to be passed `yesterday’? Could it be that if Main Street is allowed to look at the bill closely and discuss it we might stop reading and talking and . . . keep your powder dry!

If the credit markets seize and the MTM issue remains, how long before bank runs start?

>>>...to bring it to Obama so he doesn’t have to leave the campaign trail...

Let’s all remember that the President called Obama back to DC to work on this.

Obviously Obama thinks he is above his own CIC.
