Krauthammer said Obama (the underdog) came out neutral and therefore ahead in the debate. Said he was nimble in foreign affairs and since this area isn't his strength, because he held his own, it was a draw. The next two debates will prove stronger for Obama since it will deal with the economy.

I totally agree with Krauthammer's comments. Obama did very well early in tonight's debate, but McCain certainly finished very strong with his final comments (I am SO glad McCain had the final word).

Thru my conservative/Republican eyes, McCain won tonight, but if I were a younger undecided voter, I would probably say Obama won this debate. I think it was a tie.

McCain talked about and made references to many things in the past. YES, I know these things are extremely important, as we learn from history, but "young" (ie age 30-40) people may not readily know what "KGB" is, as one example of McCain's references. There are many people in that 30-40 age group that are undecideds.

Also... we were given no insight about McCain's suspension of his campaign yesterday. I thought he'd make some definitive statement about that. Is McCain's campaign still "suspended"? I'm pretty confused as to why he did that.

Obama came across as more "caring" about the average middle class person in the first part of the debate. Sadly more non-political junkie voters are now concerned about the economy first, national security second, or even further down the chain. And I believe the next few debates are focused on the economy, which will most likely favor Obama. Are any of these future debates in the townhall format favored by McCain?

Of course I don't agree with Obama on much, but I have to admit he did better than I expected.

Frank Luntz group feels Obama won the night.

Yeah, it sounds like style (Obama) definitely won over substance (McCain). This focus group took place in Nevada, right? Wasn't Nevada a pretty safe red state in 2000 and 2004? It's purple to blue now, I think.

I'm still very worried...

Well thought out analysis, which I agree with up to a point.
Too much of what BHO said were talking point after talking point, even during the economic discussion which is absolutely current.

Let’s not forget how many times he agreed with McCain. Sean just finished saying he counted 8 instances which he did that.

i would say Barack had a slight lead at the half, but John took control, pulled away and covered the spread.

Holy ____! That is astounding! Then again, I’d bet that most people watching FOX were already for McCain anyway, but that’s still a very remarkable result!

McCain had him off focus for the most part. I applaud his effort and his zingers. I don't think Bambi had any.

True.. I noticed Obama looked like he was seething while McCain was speaking.. Yet McCain remained calm, cool and collected.

They’ll have to put the DUers on a suicide watch on election day.

If they admit all that, obama is done.

Speaking of useless: Howard Wolfson on H&C. He’s there to convince us Obama won (of course), but the sea-sick look on his face says otherwise.

>>MSNBC poll is rigged, I voted for McCain but the vote tally never changed.

I've been trying to vote for McCain on CNN but it keeps locking up. I'm wondering what would happen if I chose Obama - would it still lock up?

People phoned in, or someone called people via the phone for their opinion?

“Fox News just had the first non-Internet poll results(phone in) on TV and McCain is winning 89%”

Yep, that’s what I thought!

McCain was weak for about 5 minutes. He shined the rest of the debate.

Important point. I bet some large percentage of the viewers didn't even see the very beginning of the debate.
