I would have replied “Katie, let’s not play ‘gotcha’ games here. John McCain has an extraordinary 26-year record in the Senate, and should be proud of the fact that no human being is capable of memorizing a catalog of all his achievements. What’s more much important than asking candidates to perform memory tricks like this is to focus on the issue of...”

"If President Bush is coming on t.v. tonight and we are not in grave danger of hardships in our economy, he is going to really have a hard time getting that approval rating over 10%."

Yep, he's going to have to have Godzilla or King Kong in tow. Anything less, and he's insulting the American people's in their financial ability to withstand a bit of hardship.

Those cars don't deserve to be sold, plow'um under like the bad crop that they are.

Car companies have been pumpin' out crap for too long.

It's called innovation and real improvement of quality, GM, Ford, et.al..

My thoughts go to the id 19 Citroen produced on a dirt floor factory in 1955, over half a century ago.

I know some will laugh and scorn, but it had gobs of quality cool features (massive inboard disc brakes with pads you could change yourself with no tools just by lifting the hood, etc. and on and on, I won't bore those who aren't interested, it's the point I making that matters).

From earlier today: Peter Orszag, head of the Congressional Budget Office, warned lawmakers of possible “chaos” if Congress did nothing, adding: “You would have a financial market meltdown that would cause very severe dislocations . . . maybe on the magnitude of the Great Depression.”

Send Sarah Palin to the debate Friday night.

They want to say she's not prepared to step up to President should the need arise.  I believe she would do just fine, especially in an open debate format.

Time for a 'Hail Mary' in this campaign, so let's watch as Sarah mops the floor with BHO!

Anyone in the McCain/Palin camp listening?  :-)

Uhm...no she didn't. And that is not what I meant?

Now we know where THEY stand on this.

really I don't believe that Americans are going to support this and we will not support this," Palin said in the interview.

We're all a bit touchy lately, but I will try to be more specific. Some seem to be reading into things more than they should.

I think you don’t know squat, and you didn’ listen. Are you trying to bend the words just to suit your way of thinking, or are you just another democrat from DU?

The are so many reasons we are in the position we are in. Republicans, Democrats, black, white, jew, christian, buyer, seller...EVERYBODY HAD A PART IN THIS DEBACLE.

Four years ago I sold my home in San Diego for almost double what it was worth, to people who couldn't afford it, brought to me by a broker who overpriced it, aided by an appraiser he went to college with and a bank wanting the business...you tell me...WHO IS TO BLAME? At that time I knew, meaning lots of people knew, this house of cards was going to fall. But everyone wanted their piece of the pie...well...here it is folks...

It’s not that U.S. auto makers are turning out crap....the government is tying the hands of the U.S. car companies with those stupid CAFE standards that are harder and harder for the automakers to meet. These same CAFE standards interfere with consumer choice.

The American automakers are enjoying booming sales in South America and China.....no CAFE standards there!

One of the automakers would like to manufacture a car here in the U.S. that gets 65 miles per gallon. They can’t build the vehicle here....it runs on diesel.

Another automaker had a car with lots of grill work; they were convinced the vehicle would be a real moneymaker for them, but the car didn’t meet the CAFE standards, so it never entered production.

Back in 1955, there were no CAFE standards. Detroit was king. The government should back off and let the consumers decide what kind of vehicles they want to buy, and then let the automakers satisfy the demand.

Back in 1955, there were no CAFE standards.

And yet the id 19 still got great MPG.

I grew up in research, that's the source of my anger, there's plenty that could and could have been done.

The simplest would be High Pressure Fuel Injection.

That would have rocketed MPG and burned so clean cat. converters wouldn't have been needed.

The MSM is livid on being upstaged. They were blindsided by the Palin pick and they've been blindsided again by McCain's going to Washington!

True. All without prior MSM approval. McCain was greatly underestimated when the MSM "allowed" him to run. Now they have to "misundertake" him.

McCain has insisted Palin is ready to take over as president, but he made no mention of including her in the meetings he wants in Washington to deal with the financial crisis.

Who writes this drivel? Palin is a governor, not a member of congress or the cabinet. Jeeze!

I actually think my 02 PT is a quality vehicle. Granted it needed some tweaks to boost the mpg. But I’m getting nearly 30mpg (50/50 city/hwy) with it. Which is damn good for a PT.

Manual trans. = 10% more mpg/power than auto
K&N air filter = 1mpg
Mobil 1 oil = 1mpg
Dynomax muffler = 1mpg
Removed airflow silencer = 33% restriction in airflow

(BTW Sara Kuglar is a much of a journalist as Chris Matthews or his buddy Keith O. She was exposed the other night for the left-wing reporter she is.)

Sara Kuglar is this election cycle's Jennifer Loven.
