John McCain announced that he will suspend his presidential campaign on Thursday to return to Washington to help with bailout negotiations. He urged his opponent Barack Obama to do the same.
The Arizona senator also asked the Presidential Debate Commission to postpone Fridays scheduled debate with Obama so that he can work on the financial crisis bailout plan now on Capitol Hill.
America this week faces an historic crisis in our financial system. We must pass legislation to address this crisis. If we do not, credit will dry up, with devastating consequences for our economy. People will no longer be able to buy homes and their life savings will be at stake. Businesses will not have enough money to pay their employees. If we do not act, ever corner of our country will be impacted. We cannot allow this to happen, McCain said.
Did B Hussein just imply he “misunderstood” what McCain said???
“I think he just cut Obama off at the pass.”
He did, and most people here are missing it.
In Political Chess, McCain just pigeon-holed Obama, and has him in check.
Does Obama believe in COUNTRY FIRST? Or Campaigning first.
From this meaningless statement, it’s clear he’s lost.
Because he knows his media sycophants will run with it.
As much as those on the our side believe this is a good thing McCain is doing, we should remember there are millions of voters out there who know absolutely nothing about anything unless the MSM tells them. And the MSM will spin themselves ragged turning this into a "plus" for Obama. I don't endorse it, I don't agree with it, I don't like it, I don't think it should stop us from doing what we know is right.... but that's the truth of the matter. We can't just assume this "brilliance" of McCain will be seen that way by the masses who rely on Campbell Brown and Brian Williams for direction.
Not until 2:30 this afternoon. Earlier, Obama said Tom Coburn (R) had called him and said a joint statement would be good. So it looks like that wasn't even his idea.
Seems that way. the fake one just had to admit that McCain said he wanted to delay the debate. Then the fake one glossed over that statement w/ more and more words.
Fantastic!!!! If this was a chess game McCain would be lined up perfectly. He is walking the talk and talking the walk unlike HO-bama.
I know. People just “don’t get it.” They’re treating this like just another election year issue/argument.
Deflation = Great Depression II. Paulson & Co are trying to act before it is too late. Is their plan the best? No... but all I’ve seen so far is attacks, but no alternatives.
Politicians conducted normal campaigning in the middle of wars and other emergencies in the past. The suggestion that it can’t be done now just comes across as a BS excuse to avoid some sort of embarassment.
Obama making your points now -- "a president needs to be able to do more than one thing at once."
Fixed it for O-Dumbo.
“He is a SLEAZEBAG!”
That he is! I can’t think of a dem who I despise more than BHO and that’s saying something.
I'm sure you meant...
THE most brilliant VP pick in American political history
Well said Thank You. It is a snapshot and a crapshoot.
Some here believe it is the Gold Standard of Prediction, which is untrue.
I mean Intrade and the Euro bookies had Hillary as Prez for most of 2007.
maybe because action is needed now, and not 3 weeks from now?
CM trader bump
I don’t think so.... here is part of McCain’s statement today about his suspending his campaign and delaying the debate
“...I am confident that before the markets open on Monday we can achieve consensus on legislation that will stabilize our financial markets, protect taxpayers and homeowners, and earn the confidence of the American people. All we must do to achieve this is temporarily set politics aside, and I am committed to doing so.”
He show’s great leadership.
“If I can be helpful, I can be anywhere at any time!!” Hahahaha!! Now that’s leadership!
McCain can resond, "Why is the front page of the New York Times so political?"
The shrieking little fairies will have the stroke predicted for Biden.
