Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker has been left critically injured after a Learjet crashed while departing from a South Carolina airport.
4 people were killed, while two people - including Barker and DJ AM, a famed Hollywood DJ - were injured.
Barker was transported to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia, where he was listed in critical condition.
Barker had performed Friday night at an event alongside Perry Farrell, the former Jane's Addiction singer, as well as Gavin DeGraw and DJ AM. It was not immediately clear whether any of those performers, aside DJ AM were traveling with Barker.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday from Columbia when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She said the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.
Bergen said the Lear 60 was headed to Van Nuys, California. She was unable to confirm the names of who was on board the plane.

WHO?Blink-182. If you were in your teens or early 20s during the tailend of the 1990s and listened to modern rock radio, then you probably heard these two songs.

Hope Barker and DJ AM pulls through. Though I've never bought a CD of theirs, Blink-182 will usually get turned up in my car when they come on the radio. Simple, energetic, fun.

A Learjet carrying six people crashed late Friday night at the Columbia Metropolitan Airport,
The privately owned aircraft never got off the runway, crashing at the end near S.C. 302 around 11:55 p.m.
The airport is currently closed to all arrivals and departures.

These guys are celebrities whether you know them or not. The kind of snobbery from people who don't keep up with pop culture is astounding.
I'm assuming you're a "seaaoned citizen." If Franki Valli were to be in a plane crash, I'm sure you wouldn't be bitching that it isn't news although nobody under 21 would have any idea who he is.

Gavin Degraw is amazing. My daughter and I both like him a lot. I am anxiously awaiting word on his situation.

Not sure if Gavin DeGraw was on the plane. He is a seemingly good young man who doesn't seem to yet be caught up in the glamour. He wrote a song about not getting caught up in the mess. He acts like a normal person. He is also a vocalist, much more than a singer. My daughter and I are big fans and have seen him perform. He does an amazing rendition of "Hallelujah". So yes this is news while we wait to see if he was a passenger. Sometimes its good to step back from global mania and worry about one human being for a moment.

Exactly. Also, from reading my own link, I just learned that Barker has two small children. I hope he makes it.

Franki WHO??
Yeah, I’m an old fart.
And my tastes run more to Bach, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms. You know — or perhaps not — the stuff they will STILL be playing 300 years from now.
(That should be your cue to come back with “WHO?” some of whose music I do appreciate.)
It even rhymes.

William Owens was driving down Highway 302 when he said he saw a fireball go across the road.
"I didn't know what I had seen -- it was maybe 800 feet in front of me, but as I approached it closer though I made out a fire. By then I was able to see the tail of the jet and I recognized it as a jet," Owens said.
Owens then described what he saw as he tried to make it to the wreckage.
"It's in flames and the fuel is running across the road and I had to cross the fuel to get to the two guys that seemed to have been dumped on the highway," Owens said.
Owens said the two men were running around and stripping down to extinguish themselves. He then asked the men if there was anyone else on board the plane and they said four more were with them.
"We turned to the jet to try and see if there was anything we could do, but immediately, there was nothing anyone could do," Owens said.
The Five Point Association has released a statement saying that they are "deeply saddened by this event and our thoughts and prayers go out to the victim's and their families."
The National Transportation Safety Board has scheduled a news conference for 11:30am.
The airport will be closed until 12pm according to officials.
Autopsies are currently being performed to confirm the identity of the four who died in the crash.

People judge him based on his appearance. Very unfair in this case. And the company he keeps.

I’m sorry, I can understand a tattoo on the arm, but people who tattoo all over the body aren’t playing with a full deck.
