Yemen: Series of explosions near the embassy of USA
SANAA - Several explosions occurred Wednesday morning near the U.S. embassy in Sanaa, told AFP two witnesses.
A car on fire was visible on the road along the embassy, which is heavily protected, and police immediately cordoned off the area, added the witnesses.
It is unclear whether the explosions resulted in casualties.
Questioned by AFP from Dubai, a U.S. diplomatic source in Sanaa refused to comment.
"I can not confirm this. I can not talk about it," said this source.
Prayers up for our friends in Yemen...

Yemen has about the same population as Saudi Arabia, and about twice the hate. That's one place we could pretty safely wall off and not miss.
Prayers up for all U.S. Embassy employees.

The U.S. Embassy in Yemen was attacked Sept. 17. Preliminary reports suggest that there was an initial suicide car bomb explosion followed by 15 minutes of heavy gunfire (with the possibility that rockets or mortars were used) after which there were two additional explosions. According to the reports, the attackers came in two separate vehicles and there are a number of casualties.

That said, it is unlikely that the attackers were able to breach the outer perimeter of the compound, given that U.S. embassies in the region are heavily barricaded. Therefore, those killed or wounded are likely locals, particularly security personnel at the gate of the facility.
Why do we still have an embassy in that cesspool? Oh silly me I forgot. Islam is a religion of peace. We should not judge a nation by the terrorism it enables. The very fact we even have an embassy in Yemen shows just how screwed up Bush foreign policy actually is. What’s it there for? To help bombers immigrate to the U.S. under the no M.E. foreign national Islamic terrorist left behind program?
"The Adhan (Islamic call to prayer) is one of the prettiest sounds on earth at sunset."
Barack Hussein Obama to the New York Times, 2007
Obama then sang this in what the Times called a "perfect Arabic accent"
"Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme! I witness that there is no god but Allah I witness that there is no god but Allah I witness that Muhammad is his prophet... "
The New York Times has since removed the interview from its website.
Prayers for our countrymen & women and their families.
