Pelosi orders wide Wall Street probe By: Mike Allen September 16, 2008 06:58 PM EST

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has ordered a broad, swift investigation of Wall Street and will demand testimony from Bush administration officials and captains of finance, congressional officials said.

House Democrats plan an aggressive look at the administration’s role in this weekend’s meltdown, and explore further regulation and government structures that would be taken up under the new president.

Republican aides accused Democrats of trying to shift blame with a series of “show trials,” but acknowledged that key officials will wind up cooperating.

The hearings will take place over the next few weeks, the officials said. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, who regularly appears on Capitol Hill, will be called to testify as part of the investigation.

As the main event, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), chairman of the House oversight committee, wrote to Richard Fuld, chief executive of the imploded Lehman Brothers, to ask him to appear on Capitol Hill on Sept. 25.

This is pretty simple.

Look at who the captains of Finance are and what party they are associated with. Seriously. The John Cornine's of the world (Goldman Sachs fame) are mostly liberal Democrats and they run a lot of these Wall Street investment firms. If people want to get out in front of this, get this data. Show that the greedy little bastards are Democrats that brought their own house down. Just look up the CEOs, Presidents, etc of these firms and find out what parties they belong to.

There’s also a mortgage problem in Great Britain. Did Clinton cause that, too?

If Republicans will do their homework and use the information they can obtain, this fiasco can be placed at the feet of the Clinton Administration and the Democrats. We've already heard who the beneficiaries of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were and they were DEMOCRATS! Those who didn't listen to Rush today, should go here: http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/daily/site_091608/content/01125109.guest.html. He plays a tape in which Robert Reich lays the blame on Alan Greenspan and Robert Rubin. The entire article is loaded with information.

This woman could be the dumbest in D.C.
And, there are so many dumb-bells in and out of government in D.C., that this is truely an accomplishment. What a collection pathetic no-bodys at the head of the Democratic Party.....
Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Dubin, Obama, Biden and all the fringe idiots that keep us in humor. And, that’s without mentioning the alumni...Kennedy, Kerry, McCain, McCain 2, Gore, Edwards.

“There’s also a mortgage problem in Great Britain. Did Clinton cause that, too?”

Yes - considering that the “mortgage crisis” the Brits are in is due to their financial sector’s investment in US sub-prime mortgage securities and derivatives. Nobody put a gun to their heads, but these are the securities that are at the root of the problem.

If by some miracle this should occur and the democrats are not able to blame the GOP this is what you will see happen

The MSM talking heads and democrat Spin Merchants will start with the mantra " The American public does not want finger pointing but BiPartisan effort to fix the problem"

Sick. Of. This. Crap.

This kangaroo courts which focus solely on the “administration’s role” need to be countered with some real legal action taken by the executive branch against Congress.

Why is Congress never being probed for THEIR role? Why are two mortgage bigwigs who are members of the Obama economic advisory team not being probed? Why is congressional action - or failure to act - not being probed?

Someone needs to throw this crap back in their faces.

Testimony...

They need to force Rangel, Dodd, Obama, VP vetter Jim Johnson (CEO of Fannie Mae) to testify... if not, this is just a Democrat-media circus to go after the innocent, shoot the wounded and leave the guilty parties off scot-free.

Yeah, especially when the blatantly corrupt Charlie Rangel has just REFUSED to resign. Apparently, Nancy can’t make him do so. Bummer.

Yeah, when all the Demagogue scum are brought in to testify it might mean something — all the corrupt fools like Dodd and Obama and all their pals who blocked all reforms while loading up on campaign contributions.
