Despite her meteoric rise and popularity, could Sarah Palin's fate be equated to "Death by a thousand cuts"? In other words, could the constant daily barrage of of negative stories in the media and attacks by the Obama campaign induce, by their sheer volume and repetition, Palin fatigue? Is this possibly the strategy of the media: to cause those who might consider voting for her to decide it is just too much baggage? It may not matter that people believe the stories about Gov Palin or true or false, but simply that there is so much negative noise in the system that people grow weary of such a controversial figure and not want to endure what comes with it for the next four years.
The MSM is truly harming themselves even more when they decide, as a whole entity, to attack both Sarah Palin and John McCain with even greater intensity each and everyday all the way up to and including November 4. The political one-sidedness of the MSM truly becomes even more obvious to more of the general public with this ongoing behavior by them. The “new media”, as a whole entity, will truly soon be even more popular and truly soon be even more acceptable to even more of the general public. Why else would the MSM as well as the entire political left truly want the Fairness Doctrine to eventually be fully enacted throughout the entire U.S. forever?
The thousand cuts thing only works on thin-skinned DEMS like Obama. Gov. Palin has the skin of an elephant and her supporters are ready with a million band-aids. Honestly, I can’t think of one original things the DEMS have brought up that Gov Palin hasn’t probably already heard. She’s been in public life quite a few years now.
Maybe we women are used to being put down and dissed, and when we see it happening to Sarah, we are are tuning it out as fast as the press (and Obama) try to turn it up
In fact, it is having the opposite effect from that intended by the smear merchants
“This is their Battle of the Bulge. They have to destroy Palin, or they and Obama will collapse.”
This is so true! Obama is 100% dependent on the media and they on him. It is truly shaping up to be a battle of the ages. I hate the media even more then Obama, although, a win for one is a win for both, IMHO.
You gotta be kidding ever try and cut through steel?
Or will it tighten their resolve to protect her from the corrupt mainstream media?
One of my late father's favorites. That and "In The Garden".
Excelllent post the opposite is happening!
I think that Troopergate will be the October surprise, just like the democratic investigator has already indicated. This is where they plan to bring her down.
What do we have for an October surprise against Obama?
“Obama has been campaigning for 19 months straight.”
Exactly. At the same time, the McCain camp has morphed him into an incumbent-candidate....nice, huh :-)!
Also, the Epic Greek Speech really hurt Obama...again, if that speech were as inspiring as the media claimed (or at least as good as his 2004 speech at the DNC), it would have ran neck and neck with the Palin story. That mediocre acceptance speech hurt him....Palin simply made it into a bleeding wound.
If anyone tells you that image is everything, point to that speech....it looked fantastic, but lacked a lot of substance.
I still think the best and most audacious thing she could do would be to challenge the big “O” to a debate.
She looks like superwoman in that picture.
Never bring a knife to a gun fight!!!
After a certain point, when the public perceives that a figure is being unfairly singled out and picked on, then they stop listening. It all becomes noise, and the relentless attacks, whether or not they have any merit, only make the figure more popular. This is exactly what happened with Clinton.
That has absolutely nothing to do with your offensive post.
Whenever you find examples of media bias - and they are everywhere, make sure you pass it along to others.
People are 'getting' what the media is up to. And it is hardening their resolve to fight back.
Palin’s effect is to energize the base. As long as she isn’t found to be a closet liberal, none of the MSM lies can damage her impact on the election.
McCain’s problem was that the base never supported him. The base will come out and support Palin and that will likely win McCain the election. But it is not a sure thing... If the economy really bombs in the next 2 months, a saturation campaign of ads on the economy could still get Osama elected. But it is looking mighty grim for him.
It is really a shame we don’t have a conservative on the top of the ticket. If Baby Bush pissed you off with his New World Order compassionate moderatism, then McCain is going to make your head spin. Bush is very mildly right of center and McCain is just left of center.
There is NO “winning” this election for conservatives.
As I tell everybody, I am voting for the Democratic candidate because I fear the impact of a win by the Communist Party candidate. There is no republican in this race. This is a Democrat vs a Socialist.
