Canteen Mission Statement

Showing support and boosting the morale of
our military and our allies military
and the family members of the above.
Honoring those who have served before.

As the rain cleared, and the sun began to rise, Key peered through the lifting darkness anxious to see if the flag they had seen the night before was still flying. And so it was that he scribbled on the back of an envelope the first lines of a poem he called Defense of Fort M'Henry

Doing great, thanks - just back home after another long day at work. I'm mellowing out with a nice Irish whiskey. :)

Good evening, j_tull....it is a good verse.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war’s desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav’n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: “In God is our trust.”
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Hope it stays that way for you!

I am having a good evening. I was off today! Yay!

My brother had to evacuate his home in Seabrook because of
Ike, and now he said in a call that they might get quite
a storm surge at his house. He’s staying with family in
north Houston.

Prayers for everyone in that area!

Start a thread and ping me. I'll ping the list.

I haven't started any in a while. (Sleeping on the job, I guess. Must've been reading and fell asleep. Yeah, that's the ticket.)

Freepmail me to get on the FR Book Club Ping List
