Sound not synchronized on Palin Gibson interview?

Posted on 09/11/2008 3:35:40 PM PDT by KayEyeDoubleDee

Is it just my local cable tv company, or is the ABC sound not synchronized with the lip movements?

If this is national, it's really unforgivable.

Doesnt matter, she was smart. Lets see them argue that she isnt qualified because she doesnt know the BUSH DOCTRINE!!

If she would have said yes or very well, we would have heard...Palin more of the Same.

Love the Palin Pink!

Sabotage. That way the Left can say it was heavily edited to make her look good.

Whatever. They can’t keep lowering expectations so she’ll look smarter than the top of their ticket after the debates.

“Sarah Palin did fine. It will not matter who interviews her, they all the the “interview”, they all want to get her to mis-speak. Charlie didn’t do it. What he did do is come across to millions of us females in a condesending way and didn’t give a rats ass what she had to say, he was not even listening. The edit job shows why I do not watch biased MSM.”

EXCELLENT post!

I understand why she is going through some intensive foreign policy prep before being thrown out for interviews. Rememeber when they tripped up Bush by asking the name of the President of Chawazikistan or something?

Quick - What is the name of the President of Pakistan? I know it’s Bhutto’s widower, but without Googling, I couldn’t tell you the name. I fully expect McCain, Palin, Obama and Biden to know that name.

-- UNLESS they were intentionally trying to make her look subordinate and distant and the placement of Charlie was dominant and open. --

I'm sure those shots were staged with exactly that intention. But there was at least one extended shot of her face while she was listening to a question and answering. Rock solid "performance" there. Scare-quotes, because I think the performance reflected her natural demeanor, not some put-on.

You could argue that is a sexist response. I am a female and I am not going to freak out about her not knowing the specifics of the term “Bush Doctrine”. I am more interested in what she would do and the ways she sees the world and she has the right idea so you need to tame it.

"I am major major depressed"

Try not to be. If she had rattled it right off, the opposition would say:"SEE? She's too cozy with the current failed administration and this PROVES she and McCain are just more of the same!"

This give more seperation and keeps that "change agent" thought alive.

Yesterday in a town-hall style meeting, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) left the door open to launching preventive wars against other countries, similar to the U.S. invasion of Iraq:

Q: My question is, if you are elected president, will you reject the Bush doctrine of pre-emptive war?

McCAIN: I don’t think you could make a blanket statement about pre-emptive war, because obviously, it depends on the threat that the United States of America faces.

If someone is about to launch a weapon that would devastate America, or have the capability to do so, obviously, you would have to act immediately in defense of this nation’s national security interests.

Did you record it? Then watch it again. There are a number of jump cuts throughout the segment. They really did chop it up a lot, so there’s no telling how she really responded to those questions.

Fine here too, but I don’t think she is doing that well.

Iam actually sort of happy that she does only okay. As long as she doesn't make a major blunder, her not doing that well is great from the strategic point of view. Conservatives (here in FR as well as other places) have annointed her as the One, as if she cannot make any mistake. Not only it puts pressure on her, we also make the expectation too high that it might be dangerous. Now, with her not so-stellar performance, Biden will try to show his superiority and experience advantages. Heck, I'm not surprise if he even gives her some lectures in the debate.

With all her positive traits, Palin still needs to study more. Let her go to camp for couple days. Politics is a game of expectation. Today, expectation for Palin has been lowered and it's good for her going to the debate.

The Bush Doctrine is a liberal talking point.
The actual policy is called PNAC.
They don’t ask Obama these pointed questions and it has become painfully obvious now.

Horribly condescending.

I am really surprised with Charlie Gibson. I guess he’s just another TV person who wants to use Palin to get in the spotlight of “getting her”. Really disgusting.

Hey, I'm a lowly stay-at-home mom and I can tell you "something" about the Bush Doctrine. Pre-emptive war, if deemed necessary Taking war to countries where terrorists are harbored spread democracy That's a very simple version, obviously. I think you guys need to start thinking with your big head, instead of your little head. I realize she's your ultimate fantasy - a good looking woman who like sports, likes to hunt, etc., but do you honestly think she is ready for prime time?

If I had been asked, I would have assumed that the Bush Doctrine referred to this idea that "all people yearn to be free" and that all people want to live in "Demos Kratia", and that it's perfectly acceptable for the USA to sink $600 BILLION or more into a couple of third world cesspools like Iraq & Afghanistan under the assumption that the people of those nations "yearn to be free" [and will spend the money wisely once it is handed to them].

“No, she let him define it. She was damned smart not to say yes or no to something as vague as “the Bush Doctrine”, which at this point in history would mean many different things to many different people.”

Exactly. What are you supposed to do? Oppose the position of the sitting president of your own party? Even if Bush IS wrong about his methods of “spreading democracry” this just isn’t done. And going into the minutiae of foreign policy by saying “well i agree with this but not that in a 20 minute interview is too wonkish. That’s something Obama would do... having it both ways

//

Agree. Agree.

I think you are spot on with that. Listen folks, the only people who are going to notice the potential errors she had are the hard core political junkies. The vast majority of the political junkies have already made up their minds and it is highly unlikely to change.

The average Joe who is undecided will not pick apart the interview. He/she will not remember that Sarah may have gotten a little confused over the Bush Doctrine. Heck, the average Joe doesn’t even remember what he had for dinner last night.

The female voters who may be voting for Sarah because she is a woman will see the interview as Charlie bullying her. He didn’t come across as Mr. Nice at all and most women can remember a point in their lives when they were talked down to like that. It will only make them root for her more.
