You know what is odd about this poll? Look at the breakdown by age. The majority of voters polled that went for Mccain are in the 19-29 age group. I thought Obama had the younger vote wrapped up?

Good news. It’s close in MI. Still..it’s 8 weeks out, and we see how polls can change, but I’m liking this trend.

If Obama can't win the key Democrat groups, what does that say about his political appeal? A Republican isn't supposed to lead in MI! If this doesn't shake the Obama campaign's complacency and the MSM's arrogance, nothing will. I think McCain-Palin are going to be back to capitalize on the momentum.

This is encouraging. I think McCain has a better chance in Michigan than President Bush did in 2004. If McCain is ahead by at least 5% on Election Day eve, he'll have a chance of carrying the state.

Remember than Wayne County (Detroit) precincts regularly turn out over 100% of registered voters. Yes, that's fraud, and no, you can't do anything about it but win the rest of the state by big margins. :)

But the trends are heading in the right direction. McCain has an excellent chance of carrying Michigan!

I think they’ve transposed the numbers for the age categories and assigned them to the wrong candidate. There’s no way that I believe McCain is winning 18-29 year olds but losing everyone else.

Not necessarily. My son goes to school in PA and told me he didn't draw a fraction of the crowd he had during primaries (there were thousands lined up in the rain). Not too many Nittally Lions came out for him this time around.

Maybe the college-age and young adults are aware of Obama's "Nittaly Lions" comment about Penn State and think he's an idiot.

I hate to be overly optimistic but this is quite significant. If a Blue state like MI has McCain leading, even if by only 1 point, this looks like the beginning of a trend that might portend a possible disaster in the making...for Obama.

I have said before that this election, instead of being close like 2000 and 2004, may be a replay of 1972 when the far-left George McGovern got clobbered by Nixon, 520 electoral votes to 17 for McGovern. The Dems are running a candidate who is even further to the left than McGovern. And McGovern was actually a patriot...he was a Bomber pilot during WWII and flew missions over Europe. I cannot believe that America will put a far-left candidate like Obama in the Presidency.

Detroit’s mayor going down has to do with that. Apparently the black leadership there thinks Obama threw Kilpatrick under the bus.

Even if Obama ends up carrying the state in the end. The point is that if these polls are close in these big blue states, Obama is going to be forced to spend time and money playing defense in Kerry states that he should have easily have wrapped up.

This type of thing will keep him out of Florida, Virginia, and Colorado.

If Obama has to fight to keep MI and PA, he is is in real trouble. McCain is solidifying OH and FL.

BINGO. It is not so much that we may win Michigan (the fraud in Detroit is probably impossible to overcome unless we are 10 points up), but the fact that Obama had to spend a lot of this week in Pennsylvania. Any day he is in a blue state from 2004 is a day he is not in Virginia, Ohio or Colorado.

Picking up Pennsylvania is probably possible and would go a long way towards making up for problems we are having en New Mexico and Nevada. Obama's great lakes difficulty in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan is unlikely to be a game changer. They do offer a fantastic distraction, forcing team Obama to spend a lot of time in states he didn't think he had to worry about, and allowing us to shore up our week points. Who knows the "Gales of November" could come early and blow Obama all the way back to Chicago.

I am not surprised that Obama is losing the youth vote but I don’t believe he would be getting only 77% of the black vote.
On the surface, something does not feel right.

On the surfacem that sounds racists to me. I can totally believe that 23% of the blacks actually can think for themselves.

I wouldn’t give this poll much credence. It has McCain leading decisively amongsts 18-29 year olds and Obama leading amongst older voters.

It has Obama slaughtering McCain among women (Obama +23).

Something is very screwy with these numbers.

I think that Bambi’s internals have shown this and that is why he is getting unhinged and nasty.
