Are You Too Dumb to Understand Evolution?
CreationEvolutionHeadlines ^ | September 10, 2008

Sept 10, 2008 — Astrobiologist David Deamer believes that life can spontaneously emerge without design, but he thinks lay people are too uneducated to understand how this is possible, so he gives them the watered-down version of Darwin’s natural selection instead, which he knows is inadequate to explain the complexity of life. That’s what he seemed to be telling reporter Susan Mazur in an interview for the Scoop (New Zealand). Is the lay public really too dense for the deeper knowledge of how evolution works?...

Every time that I think you’ve displayed the depths of your ignorance of the Christian/Biblical ideology, you top it. This one has been shot down so many times theres hardly anything left to shoot at.

Perhaps it wasn’t inherently obvious to you that I was referring to innocent human life. Are you the resident atheistlib or something? This is something they’d argue.

Death penalty (capital punishment) recommended in these passages:

Exodus 21:12
Leviticus 20:10
Deuteronomy 22:25–26
Leviticus 20:13
Exodus 21:16
Exodus 22:19
Exodus 22:18
Deuteronomy 13:1–10
Deuteronomy 22:24

Gen 6: 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

Gen 6: 11 - 13 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

All part of God's plan. Create scads of evil people and then wipe them out.

You'd rather be living under the OT Law?

Wouldn't you? I mean, what's the difference between shunning shrimp and infanticide and woman being created from a rib 6,000 years ago? I'm not clear on how you differentiate the literal vs. symbolic vs. "oh those crazy laws were OT time only" laws.

God isn't allowed to change His mind?

Hm. I wonder how this comment would play in the religion forum? Seriously. I would think this would sort of go against everything an omnipotent, omnipresent God would stand for. Why would God, who knows and see all, every have occasion to change his mind?! I would think that if this became part of the canon, a lot of Christians would beginning asking more questions.

I forgot. Who was it that recently said the New Testament superceded the Old?

More evasion.

No, buy I'll take a stab at it. But for the record, since I don't know what you meant and I'm letting you know about that now, it would not be reasonable to accuse me of misrepresenting what you are looking for because you haven't made that clear.

The Law was put in charge to lead us to Christ. (Galatians 3:15-25). God promised a Redeemer from the time of the Fall. He fulfilled it in due time when He sent Jesus.

As as far as it not working, that depends on what you mean by that. It worked in that it pointed to Christ. It didn't work, so to speak, in getting people saved by following it, as that was never what it was intended to do.

It worked in some respects in keeping civil order and setting up a system of justice that was consistent and allowed Israel to keep its national identity, inasmuch as the people followed it. The health and dietary restrictions worked in that it kept them healthy.

So it depends some on what you meant by it "working".

It did what was needed at the time. When it was no longer needed because of being fulfilled, it was no longer necessary. Why hang on to it?

“They are the same in that they both create the appearance of angular motion.”
“Thank you, my job is done : )”
You've been talking about relative appearance the whole time?

Goodgrief!

You've been talking Duplo Blocks in aeronautical engineering class!

(Why do I get the feeling that if I went back and looked at your original argument, I would think this was just a copout?)

Your argument the whole time has been that the sun appears to go across the sky every day?

Somethings fishy...

-— See, MrB is all for OT Laws ruling the land. Can we all agree that if any of us felt like it, we could look at the verses directly proceeding and following these to find some of the more - we’d all agree - absurd laws of the day? Which again begs the question, how do you choose what is relevant and what isn’t? Wool-wearer!

Did the professors at the ‘1st school keep their belief in God secret?

I wouldn’t necessarily say secretive, keeping in mind it was a Christian school, one would expect such, but they didn’t make a big deal of it as the NY libedrals did.

I find it interesting that every thread devoted to discussing the validity of evolution evntually turns into a religion thread.

I though that the ToE didn't deal with origins. How could this thread qualify then?

No one person put the NT together.

Not today and not ever! ;)

Then I don’t get it. First you say that they’re telling everyone that all scientists are Darwinists/atheits and then you say that’s not the case at all.

You’re confused. There are indeed professors who are guilty of such, but they’re certainly not the only ones!

God is the only entity that has the right to determine life or death of the entities created in His image.

God did determine that the death penalty is valid under certain circumstances. He directed men to carry that out, but it was His determination.

OK, I do not have the time to educate the ignorant on the continuance of law from the OT to the NT.

Matthew 5:17 - Do not think that I have come to do away with or undo the Law or the Prophets; I have come not to do away with or undo but to complete and fulfill them.

I grow weary of educating the willfully ignorant and those who seek simply to snipe from a comfortably smug sense of arrogance combined with ignorance.

My mistake, metmom.

I left the door open for the petty little sniper to pick a nit that I thought was obvious.

So who had everyone convince of it? If people are only now realizing it’s not true then everone must have believed it before then.

How do we know that it is God's determination when we kill others?

Cop-out duly noted. Are you telling me that there is no longer any debate about certain OT tenets and laws today? That Matthew took care of all that debate with one verse a few thousand years later? MrB, I think there's a megachurch in Co Springs for you to assume the head of!

Pretty much that is it : ) Apparent vs the actual position of what we see, using the Earth as our point of reference. It couldn't be much simpler.

Arrogant smug snipership duly noted.

Really, I don’t give a rip, I know that the Bible does not condone abortion and does condone the death penalty.

You seem to care a lot about arguing this issue. Bother someone else who cares.
