Are You Too Dumb to Understand Evolution?
CreationEvolutionHeadlines ^ | September 10, 2008

Sept 10, 2008 — Astrobiologist David Deamer believes that life can spontaneously emerge without design, but he thinks lay people are too uneducated to understand how this is possible, so he gives them the watered-down version of Darwin’s natural selection instead, which he knows is inadequate to explain the complexity of life. That’s what he seemed to be telling reporter Susan Mazur in an interview for the Scoop (New Zealand). Is the lay public really too dense for the deeper knowledge of how evolution works?...

Well, yeah, I’d gather that. What desired results would that be? I’m trying to figure out what you think wasn’t working cause I’m not sure that I see that as a reason for Him changing the way He dealt with humankind. But since I don’t know what you’re thinking about, I can’t say for sure.

Probably referring to the flood.

It’s an interesting example because many biologists look at it as a direct natural selection event by God. ;)

Bad job of selection, considering subsequent history.

Do you even understand the purpose of the Law?

Actually, not. At least not yet.

Things have not yet got to the point of being as bad as they were just before the Flood.

The hostility is directed at those that try to push their 'religion' into the science class.

Yep, exactly how we see atheists. And they use force instead of persuasion.

Back to the question. Why did he change his methods? You said he did, I asked why. You don't need to know what I am to answer. More evasion.

All the millions of people, men, women, children and fetuses wiped out, and the family that gets saved is disfunctional. I don’t know if your children screw their father, but Noah’s family seems worse than mine.

Things could be much, much worse.

There is no situation so bad, that it can’t be made worse. We could lose access to the internet, for example. ;)

And your comment to metmom, ouch!

In a world taken over by evil, violence and corruption, Noah was a righteous man. However, Noah wasn’t just a righteous man, he was the only follower of God left on the earth. The Bible says he was blameless among the people of his time. It also says he walked with God. Living in a society saturated with sin and rebellion against God, Noah was the only man alive that pleased God. It’s hard to imagine such unwavering faithfulness in the midst of such godlessness. Over and over again, in the account of Noah’s life we read, “Noah did everything just as God commanded.” His life of 950 years, exemplified obedience.

OK. It was ove the top, but why is metmom exempt from rationality. What evidence is there that we live in a world that is worse than the Old Testament world?

I see nothing in my life as bad as people claiming that God ordered them to wipe out an entire city, men, women children, fetuses and pets. And getting away with it.

Few here acknowledge God's plan of natural selection in that many fertilized eggs never implant due to natural causes. Thus, everytime one has unprotected sex, there is a probability of creating an natural abortion. Why would God design into the process natural abortions?

History written by the winners. I see nothing exemplary about Noah or his family. And what’s with the Harry Potter curse stuff? I thought witchcraft was forbidden?

Not the entire city. I think they instructed to keep the minor female virgins alive for obvious reasons.

God is the only entity that has the right to determine life or death of the entities created in His image.

So, your question is irrelevant.

So, you are against the death penalty.

LOL!

I can think of a few countries where I would seriously consider a Holy smackdown.

I agree with you generally. Even though I live in the People’s Democratic Republic of Obama, I would still rather live here than anywhere outside the US.

And they utterly destroyed all that [was] in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

I find it interesting that every thread devoted to discussing the validity of evolution evntually turns into a religion thread.

Yeah, but it's cute when they start the inevitable internal "My denomination is smarter than yours" bickering.

I don’t know if your children screw their father, but Noah’s family seems worse than mine.

Noah's children screwed their father? All three boys?

Gen 6: 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time.

Gen 6: 11 - 13 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth.

You don't think that those people were worse than those today?

I don't see that as being an accurate description of our society, or many others as well.
