ABC News' Matthew Jaffe reports: Sen. Barack Obama's, D-Ill., vice presidential nominee, Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., Wednesday said that Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., might have been a better pick for the position than him.
At a rally in Nashua, N.H., a man in the audience told Biden how glad he was that Obama picked him over Hillary, "not because she's a woman, but because, look at the things she did in the past."
"Make no mistake about this," Biden responded. "Hillary Clinton is as qualified or more qualified than I am to be vice president of the United States of America. Lets get that straight. Shes a truly close personal friend, she is qualified to be president of the United States of America, shes easily qualified to be vice president of the United States of America, and quite frankly, it might have been a better pick than me. But shes first rate, I mean that sincerely, shes first rate, so lets get that straight."

This makes me very suspicious. Is this an offhand remark or deliberate? Is this story setting it up for Obama to make a switch and bring Hillary in as his VP??? He may be ready to take desperate measures to counter Palin.

Such a switcheroo would be widely seen as desperate pandering.

The blowback would make even the Dukakis campaign look good about November 3rd.

I don't think this was deliberate on Biden’s part. I believe he was trying to defend Hillary Clinton — as he should; HRC’s a colleague — and he said something stupid —true, but stupid — which isn't surprising, since Biden is a buffoon.

It’s NOT too late for Obama to do this. Would he go groveling to Hillary? I hope not.

Would be exactly what Rudy said at the GOP about Obama not being able to make a decision and for Biden to get that VP thing in writing...
I think it would be a disaster for obama...

Maybe just a moment of truth- an “ah ha” moment. Hell, I would make a better VP than him. He is a dope.

It could have been a very sly way to repair damage to Hillary and supporters, re: not even vetted, by planting the question and the answer (which they are known to do) so the “opportunity” to appease her supporters would happen and they have a chance to win a few of the deserters back. Thats my guess.

Everyone needs to go to the link and read the comments below the article.
Ninety percent are DEMs that are near suicidal over Obama, Biden, Hillary, the state of their party and McCain/Palin.
The comments go on for pages and are a great read. Enjoy.

Didn’t he plagarize that statement?
To: CometBaby
Nope he is wrong they both suck.
To: CometBaby
I, too, am suspicious. Biden may have been told to start greasing the skids for a switch.

My take on it is, after saying that Palin would be a step backward, that this was an attempt to show how emancipated he really is. I can’t imagine BO switching, but I welcome further incompetent decisions from the BO campaign!

Obama needs to put Biden in a lockbox.
And when this is all said and done Obama can crawl in there with him.
I'm running out of popcorn and it's not even October yet.

I know Biden was “kidding” and trying to compliment HRC but it is such a goofy awkward statement.
Rove nailed this buffoon pefectly- Biden is “ a blow-hard doofus”.
The McCain campaign needs to make another ad showing this and the “Obama is not ready to be President” clip one after the other.
I honestly do not know if Biden and Obama could get more ridiculous and laughable. Truly amateur hour!
