Obama knocks press on 'made-up controversy'
politico ^

Speaking at a high school in Norfolk, Obama took a few moments to address what he calls "the made-up controversy" of the day, Amie Parnes reports.

Obama said the McCain campaign moved to "seize an innocent remark and take it out of context because they knew it's catnip for the news media."

"See, it would be funny, but the news media decided that would be the lead story yesterday. This happens every election cycle. Every four years, this is what we do. This is what they want to spend two of the last 55 days talking about...Enough!" he said.

Obama called the attacks "lies, outrage and swift boat politics."

"These are serious times and they call for a serious debate...spare me all the phony outrage. Spare me all the phony talk about change."

“Obama said the McCain campaign moved to “seize an innocent remark and take it out of context because they knew it’s catnip for the news media.”

No class. Bizarre campaign strategy. The simpleton must be getting a kick out of circling that drain.

“The man is not smart.”

He’s smart in the same sense that most leftist intellectuals are “smart”.

You could not make this stuff up if you tried.

He is hilariously inept when left on his own.

He is the pot calling the kettle black about change, then he attacks the media, which has been pulling for him strongly all along...

"Watch, some liberal milquetoast in the NY Times will write a column on how awful the media is for getting wrapped up in this."

...only if the NY Times' staff has been dumbed-down enough to keep the lipstick issue alive.

I give you even money odds.

No mention of his directly plagiarizing the comments just prior to his pig gaffe: Obama plagiarized Tom Toles in Swinegate [PROVES THAT REMARKS WERE SCRIPTED - NOT OFF THE CUFF]

Nothing like attacking the hand that feeds him.

"I’d have been inclined to give BHO a pass on his remaark, but the way he’s handling the pressure speaks volumes about his temperament and thin skin. Hardly Presidential. And he’s demonstrating that he’s incapable of admitting a mistake, or apologizing and “moving on”."

Exactly. Plus, he's showing poor judgement in keeping a "non-issue" alive by holding a press conference about it.

He's not going to move up in the polls from people seeing him today.

“Can you imagine the outrage if McCain said “you can lead Mohamad to the mountain...”.”

The better example would be if McCain referred to Obama's lack of experience and said “You have to call a spade a spade”... The race cards would choke the media they would fly so fast.

Obama is now where Allen was with the press when he made the “Macaca” comment... The more he defends it the more red meat it is for the media.

I agree this was a huge mistake. Obama is tanking in the polls. He looked foolish in the O'Reilly clips. His YouTube gaffes are everywhere. Let his comment alone. The MSM was already hitting him on it all last night.

Why oh why did they have to make a stupid ad. They should take it down. WHINING! Violated Rove Rule #2.
