Obama poked fun of McCain and Palin's new "change" mantra.
"You can put lipstick on a pig," he said as the crowd cheered. "It's still a pig."
"You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called change. It's still gonna stink."
"We've had enough of the same old thing."
The crowd apparently took the "lipstick" line as a reference to Palin, who described the difference between a hockey mom and a pit bull in a single word: "lipstick."
This sounds like a comment Michelle may have
shared with Obama in private. Now the whole world
knows. What’s the next whisper we’ll get to hear
pass his lips?
So why did the audience go berserk at the use of a common old saying? They knew exactly what he was really saying. There is such a thing as a double meaning and this is a classic example. He can play dumb, but he's lying. Plain and simple.
Seriously, the redneck in me is coming out right now. I’m a Southern Boy, and we (BillClinton/JohnEdwards excluded) don’t treat our women like that and enjoy beating the $hit out of those who do. I will walk away from the board because I’m on the verge of typing things I will regret.
My feeling is Obama truly didn’t mean to reference Palin, but I’d bet a paycheck his speechwritier knew what HE was doing in referencing this in the speech.
And I’m thrilled these “intellectuals” are so unaware of themselves.
I can hardly wait to see those reports in mid-November:

That's very true, but McCain has demonstrated a good sense of when to keep his mouth shut and let the opponent hang himself.

If you watch the video, you will see Obama stroke his forehead and hide his eyes when he utters the famous words. His body language betrays that he knows he is doing something shameful.

Yes he did! And all his Kool-Aid drinkers are saying he was just referring to an old joke. Well, the timing sure belies that, as well as his track record. Anybody who believes this was innocent is either brainwashed or the quintessential subject of old jokes — a moron.

Good point. And the crowd’s cheering should have told him something. His tone then turned gleeful as he talked about the fish, knowing full well why the crowd was so wild. I think we have him pinned down on this. But he will be able to throw dust in the air.

No, it was very NUANCED (isn't that what liberals claim his comments are?)....and Hussein (and the MSM) have 'plausible deniability'.
It got their point across loudly and clearly--while at the same time, they can deny it. End of story.
