Governor Sarah Palin! Or, actually, what she signifies.
We've often stated on FR that if the Republicans would only run true conservatives then we'd win more elections. We'd keep the White House, build conservative majorities in congress, replace liberal activist judges with original intent constitutionalists, and eventually overturn Roe v Wade and begin rolling back some of the damage inflicted upon our beloved republic by the socialists and liberals.
John McCain's bold choice of the unabashed pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-gun, pro-liberty, small government, strong defense, fiscal conservative, Sarah Palin, signifies a return to conservatism within the Republican Party.
And the fact that Republicans and conservatives of every stripe, including the Christian right are flocking to her side and that the conservative grassroots has been re-energized literally overnight is proof that when offered the choice of truly conservative candidates, conservatives and Republicans will react accordingly.
Even though I've stated in the past that I would not vote for McCain, I will be supporting this ticket. Governor Palin is a God-fearing, kick butt conservative and I'd much rather have her advising and standing in the wings for the presidency than Joe Biden. I'll definitely pull the lever for her. And I'll do all I possibly can to keep the America-hating Marxist Barack Hussein Obama out of the White House.
Do it for Life. Do it for Liberty. Do it for our troops. Do it for America!
Okay JIM!!!
“Keep sailin with Palin
on the good ship McCain!”
On to VICTORY!
I want to ram four conservative Supreme court nominees
down the liberals throats. Let them live with THAT!
Glad you’re feeling better.

Bump!
Got to go! Busy getting out the vote for Obama on November 5th.
Will McCain do that? To some degree, probably yes.
Will Sarah do it? She's someone who "walks the walk"; she'd have to essentially surrender her core beliefs to abandon social conservatives. No, I think Sarah will remain solid.
Amen!
"So much Sarah Palin, not enough time!"
I'll try and find a link to the rally.
If McCain can effect the election by his choice of Sarah, what more can John McCain do to further effect the election and make life miserable for the likes of Reid and Pelosi.
Sarah might not be able to put the government jet that Pelosi is using on eBay, but she might make Ms. Nancy regret the day she ever coveted that free jet ride.
So, let's see if taxes and government spending are under control in 2012. School choice would face fierce opposition from a Democratic majority in congress. Supreme Court appointments will be a key factor.
No expectations for immigration reform. Who gets important cabinet positions will be another factor.
Even if McCain wins, it's still an uphill battle for conservatives. It's not at all clear Palin becomes a front runner in 2012. Not every VP turns into presidential material. Just ask Quayle and Gore. Or Mondale.
There was such a lack of conservative support prior to the convention that it must have been pretty obvious to McCain that he wasn't going to pick up enough moderate support to make up for the drought of conservatives.
If things had been looking good for McCain earlier on, I don't think he would have been as likely to have chosen Gov. Palin.
Palin is a 10 ton dump truck full of sugar (to correct your metaphor)
**Do it for Life. Do it for Liberty. Do it for our troops. Do it for America!**
YES!
You were 100% right, cripplecreek. It was the comservative holdouts that brought about the Palin pick.
If we would have keeled over like the others we would have a Tom Ridge or Linseed Grahamnesty as the veep pick.
It would have been a loser because there were too many like us out there.
I agree. I was one of the more outspoken critics of John McCain. I still see his faults. But I also see his strengths, and one of those is his running mate, Sarah Palin. She’s the real deal.
I still do not trust John McCain. My biggest fear is that Sarah Palin is being used as a Trojan horse of some kind, whether or not she would knowingly would know of that purpose.
McCain is still wrong on amnesty, global warming, and the POW/MIA issue from 1992. I wont change from that position. He must change from those positions.
But from a political point of view, McCain gave a future to conservatism by picking Palin. And more than I could ever want McCain, I want to give Palin a shot at that future in the White House.
Her future is our future as conservatives. She is poised for greatness, like Ronald Reagan was in 1980.
If McCain does not live out his term or is a one term President, he will have done this country an enormous favor by giving us Palin as his successor.
Hence my new tagline.
Glad to see you are back home, back in the saddle, and back on FR.
He followed that up the following Sunday on deFace the Nation with "I pledge to have Democrats in my administration."
Do NOT hold your breath waiting for his next "good" decision. You'll turn blue!
All you really needed is the first paragraph.
She’s not a god or a messiah. But right now she shows every promise of a young Margaret Thatcher.
I switched to voting McCain when the Heller decision came down. 5-4 is the right vote, but four got it wrong. Four!
Not long after, I read of McCain’s promise for nuclear energy. Fifty new plants is a good start.
But now, Mrs. Palin revives my faith in the GOP. I look forward to Palin/Jindal with relish.
