There is no silly trick or gimmick here. Some press photog took a photo of Biden and his treatment of the flag, and now the press is running it.
Yep, just like I see the difference between images of the flag on the paper plates, napkins and paper cups that you yourself mentioned as being taboo and "the flag". I was agreeing with you by the way, next time I won't bother. Carry on.

That looks JUST LIKE the flags rescued and adopted out to the McCain/Palin supporters at the Rally yesterday... I think that photo gives further proof that the DNC was done with them and didn’t care about the ultimate destination.

I’d rather have the press look into Biden’s cozy relationship with the DuPonts and the Banking interests, and his son’s lobbying efforts. Important stuff that impacts how taxpayers and the public at large are being used and abused. The flag stuff is purely symbolic.
That's not true. Printing facsimiles of the flag is perfectly fine. The code linked to in CE2949BBs post only applies to the flag and facsimiles are not considered to be authentic flags.

I made the point upthread that this whole flag issue is more an indifference to appropriate display of the flag than a patriotism issue.
