If anyone knows what it is like to be Sarah Palin right now, it is James Danforth Quayle.

Dan Quayle was actually a pretty solid guy, and very far from an idiot.
He did suffer from an almost total lack of the kind of poise and charisma Palin has so much of, which is why the attacks on him worked.
He should have stuck to local politics and worked his way up.

Quayle is/was a very nice guy who didn't really know how to give as good as he got.
Sarah doesn't have that problem.

I think that Quayle was treated unfairly. Frankly, I can’t find anything wrong with what he said about Murphy Brown, except that it has nothing to do with the government, but its not like every other politician hasn’t done likewise in every single speech (they must stay off topic, so as not to alienate people by being specific about what they will do if elected).
His problem was his personality. He didn’t have IT, as casting agents say. Palin has IT.
Compared to Sarah, Dan is a small potatoe!
