John McCain's Speech [Vanity]

Posted on 09/04/2008 8:08:31 PM PDT by gjones77

Great speech tonight, if I didn't know any better I believe he channeled Ronnie for a bit...

I don’t agree. I think he got off to a slow start; of course thanking his wife, mother and so on; but he touched on the important issues; showed how he is far different from Obama and showed his love for his country. He might not be a great orator or as charismatic as BO but that guy gives me the willies with his columns and all - I imagine his next stunt is to come riding in on a donkey.

yeah.... The crowd seemed to really charge when she came out. I think she is more popular than McCain.

Great speech, great week we now need to stand and fight for our Team of McCain-Palin. It’s our election to win if we stand up and fight.

I’ll be honest, I shed a tear when he mentioned the part where he weighed 100 lbs, and they finally threw him in a cell with two other Americans. He couldn’t take care of himself, and they had to feed him. Humility!

Great,...solid, honest,...unpretentious speech. Did what he needed to do.

It leaves the definite impression that this is a leader much more comfortable working and doing instead of talking about working and doing.

His speech reminded me of a bumpersticker I recently saw:

“For those who fight for it, life has a flavor the protected will never know.”

We love you, Senator McCain.

McCain did good for those who like actual substance and character.

The background was a big white house with a green lawn, then a cornfield, then a blue sky with the american flag. Looked very nice on the wide shots.

The whole speech was very sincere, thoughtful and well-spoken. Not fire and brimstone. The last five minutes was fantastic. Very inspiring.

He did a good job. Could have skipped the reach across the aisle work with dems part of it. His story about being a prisoner was touching and ending was best.

Glad he didn’t mention global warming and immigration. The silence wouldn’t have been good.

I liked it. Frankly what he has to say is a LOT more meaningful than how well he speaks in public. He is the only man I have ever seen run for this office that has BLED for his country like he has. Right or Wrong, I don't believe he will ever do anything that could HURT this Nation. Obama doesn't even know how to begin to quantify that statement, let alone put a moral equivalence to it. Thats it for me.

Lets Roll.

McCain is not a great orator, and his speech dragged in several spots, but the last 5 minutes were very powerful.

Next stop: the Debates.

It was a humble speech and combined with Palin’s line in her speech about having a “servant’s heart” shows that this ticket knows who they are without guile or pretention.

I missed the last 10 minutes, but Sarah’s was WAYYYYYY better. He really seemed to take a while to get going, and the interruptions certainly didn’t help.
