BARACK, MEET YOUR NIGHTMARE
NEW YORK POST ^ | September 4, 2008 | rich lowry

Posted on 09/04/2008 7:59:33 AM PDT by george76

Last night, the question about Sarah Palin wasn't if she's risen too fast, but where she's been for so long.

She may have given the best speech of either political convention. She delivered a brilliantly written text flawlessly. Politicians who've been on the national stage for decades could do no better, and usually do worse.

Newsrooms across America must be in abject despair. The unlikely VP nominee the media hoped to crush out of the gate is unaffected by their condescension and scorn - and is bent on giving better than she takes.

Miss Congeniality isn't afraid to administer an old-fashioned beat-down. Annie Oakley brought a gun to a knife fight and made like the Obama-Biden ticket was a moose lazily meandering into her gun sights.

she said the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom is "lipstick." It wasn't just a cute line. She immediately began to prove it, starting with her killer line that being mayor of a small town is just like being a community organizer - except you have actual responsibilities.

She was merciless on Obama's elitism, scoring him for saying one thing about working-class voters in Scranton and another in San Francisco. By the end, you began to feel sorry for him for having been so thoroughly eviscerated by a woman and to wonder - how are Obama and Biden possibly going to handle her?

Palin was obviously comfortable laying body checks on Obama. In fact, she seemed to enjoy it.

Throughout, she never lost that ineffable quality that is literally priceless - her likability.

I never watch The View..I did make an exception this morning.Just as I figured the Old Hens on there had only one thing good to say about Sarah and that was she gave a great speech. The rest of the time I watched they were making fun of her and her family saying awful things but trying to say them in a nice way..They even showed a black man and said look at that only one black at the republican convention..My though was if that was so then it must have been the only educated black around. The others that Obama let into his convention were paid good money to sit as long as they did to listen to the Muslim slam everyone but Muslims..

To bad Babs but you are an old cow that needs to be let out to pastor..

I too, am a Conservative, and if you aren’t supporting this ticket after last night, yep, I don’t understand you at all.

Palin’s the future, McCain is the ‘vehicle’ to that future, like it or not, for the GOP and Conservatives.

I wasn’t happy with McCain as the nominee. Up until Steve Schmidt took over day to day operations, I believed Rick Davis’s ineptness would guarantee an Obama Presidency, backed up with a Democrat lunatic left controlled Congress.

Now, its quite possible McCain/Palin can win this thing, and by a margin we haven’t seen since the 1988 election cycle.

You can keep ‘politically pure’ if you wish, I can respect that to a certain extent. But the fact is the McCain ticket is no longer just about John McCain, and his antics since losing the South Carolina primary in 2000.

Its about the future of the country, Conservativism, and the Republican Party.

Thanks for your well thought out response, we can disagree politely as you demonstrate.

I completely understand your stand on principle.
I won’t berate you in any fashion. I’ll assume you understand economics.
But I hope that if Obama/Biden wins that you understand what that will mean when they team up with Pelosi and Reid.
I also hope that if it goes ‘down’ you will not just be standing on the sidelines, saying ‘I told you so’.

I think they’re terrified. What’s funny to me is that now, probably more than ever, Obama needs Hillary to campaign her heart out for him. But I doubt that she feels the need to do so. In fact, she probably feels some kinship to Sarah, although she may well see her as a 2012 competitor.

I agree with your logic, but I think you are being too clever by half. Choices are 1. McCain for 4 years, maybe get Palin after that and have a fighting chance or 2. Elect Obama and probably game over for western civilization.

I was also wondering about the shuffling - WOW that makes her speech even more awesome.

Just think what would happen if BO’s teleprompter broke half way through....

re: Here we go again; every article will mention the speech was written for her

Several days before Obama’s Big Speech, the MSM ran story after story of how The ONE was secluded off by himself in another state writing his speech. The implication was that he alone was crafting it. Yeah sure!

I can’t afford four years of Obama, with Pelosi and Reid running the Congress. I”m a small business owner in Ohio. Any more taxation, we go belly up.

I appreciate your view on McCain and Amnesty. I’ll just suggest we listen to McCain tonight, and consider what he says on that important topic.

Then, make a decision one way or another.

Thanks for the well thought out reply, it encapsules my own concerns...I’ve just gotten past it.

It turns out that she was not a code pinko. She is an actual bundler for the Obama campaign. She has raised over 100,000 for the obama people.

Actually they showed it during Van Sustren’s time on the air. Not live, but they did show it.

We are being inundated with media investigations into Palin's life and self-motivated political journey through the ranks of local, state, and now national politics.

Now that she's introduced the subject of Obama's autobiographies, is the door now opened for extensive media investigation into the people and money that have crafted his meteoric rise? Has he done all of this on his own, or are there "puppeteers," and, if so, who are they?

That move can not be done with politics, only with military might. And with their poor moves on Haditha and Hamidaniya the left already checkmated themselves.

I am confident that if the game moves to that board, My side will have a fool’s mate.

Actually, I saw more black men and women at the convention than I expected to see. I was pleasantly surprised. And I was watching C-Span.

Co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans, who were given their tickets to the speech by a Republican delegate who was frustrated with the Republican party and Sarah Palin, caught the attention of Palin with their banners and shouting about 15 minutes into her speech. Palin stopped talking for a moment to turn to look at them.

I’m talking about the original speech broadcast, not the selected and edited versions showed later by various commentators.
