Last night, the question about Sarah Palin wasn't if she's risen too fast, but where she's been for so long.
She may have given the best speech of either political convention. She delivered a brilliantly written text flawlessly. Politicians who've been on the national stage for decades could do no better, and usually do worse.
Newsrooms across America must be in abject despair. The unlikely VP nominee the media hoped to crush out of the gate is unaffected by their condescension and scorn - and is bent on giving better than she takes.
Miss Congeniality isn't afraid to administer an old-fashioned beat-down. Annie Oakley brought a gun to a knife fight and made like the Obama-Biden ticket was a moose lazily meandering into her gun sights.
she said the difference between a pit bull and a hockey mom is "lipstick." It wasn't just a cute line. She immediately began to prove it, starting with her killer line that being mayor of a small town is just like being a community organizer - except you have actual responsibilities.
She was merciless on Obama's elitism, scoring him for saying one thing about working-class voters in Scranton and another in San Francisco. By the end, you began to feel sorry for him for having been so thoroughly eviscerated by a woman and to wonder - how are Obama and Biden possibly going to handle her?
Palin was obviously comfortable laying body checks on Obama. In fact, she seemed to enjoy it.
Throughout, she never lost that ineffable quality that is literally priceless - her likability.

Love it!
Are those true???
1) sabotage
2) code pink, ‘nuff said
yes, I am supporting the PALIN/mccain ticket.
iT’S NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE AN IVY LEAGUE DIPLOMA, to successfully be the leader of the free world.
Whether McCain/Palin wins or loses in November, I’m going down swingin’ with this gal!
Did anyone see what the Code Pinko did? How close did it get to the podium? What was it yelling, or did it have a sign?
I just saw it being hauled up the stairs, flashing a peace sign.

“Im hardly a big fan of McCains, as several hundred posts here demonstrate conclusively. But after what I saw last night, Im not just going to vote for the ticket, Im going to bust my ass to see it wins come November.”
I’m with you, big time! I was planning on staying home Election Day to polish my shoes since I couldn’t stand McCain. I even stopped posting on FR for quite awhile, because of the grief I got from FRiends. Stopped posting and said I’d be back after the election. Now, like you, I’ll not only vote for this ticket, I’ll campaign and donate again to the RNC, instead of tearing up their requests for money. As for Sarah Palin, YOU GO GIRL!!!!
Palin's got baggage. Unfortunately the baggage is McCain. I will however vote for the ticket.
Halfway through Sarah Palin’s speech tonight at the RNC, people following the speech noticed she was deviating from the prepared text.
According to sources close to the McCain campaign, the teleprompter continued scrolling during applause breaks. As a result, half way through the speech, the speech had scrolled significantly from where Governor Palin was in the speech. The malfunction also occurred during Rudy Giuliani’s speech, explaining his significant deviations from his speech.
Unfazed, Governor Palin continued, from memory, to deliver her speech without the teleprompter cued to the appropriate point in her speech.
Contrast this to Barack Obama who, when last his teleprompter malfunctioned, was left stuttering before a crowd unable to advance his speech until the problem was resolved.
Sarah Palin. Winner.
That could be. I simply noticed the incident and thought the teleprompter issue made sense when I heard of it. But at the end, I did see her shuffle papers on the podium.
“...Code Pink whackos storming the stage..”
When did that happen? I watched the whole speech and nobody stormed the stage.
Not necessarily. At lot can happen between now and 2012. I was also a little surprised with Romney’s speech. It was ok, but lacked the fire I have sometimes seen in him.
Although I’m pleasantly surprised by Sen. McCain’s VP pick, I remain unsold on his candidacy. McCain voted for amnesty for illegals. AMNESTY. What difference does it make if we have a great VP when POTUS won’t support the most basic function of government the defense of the borders?
I will never vote for Juan McAmnesty. If he renounces his stance on illegal immigration, I will reconsider my position; otherwise, he will never receive my vote. I’d rather suffer through four years of Obama and vote for Gov. Palin when she leads the GOP ticket in 2012 than give my endorsement to a man who won’t fight an invasion.
“Palin’s got baggage. Unfortunately the baggage is McCain. I will however vote for the ticket.”
LOL!!!! With you, FRiend!!!
I noticed it at the time, but she was so smooth I gave it no thought.
CNN showed some of the Code Pink incident. Fox News showed none of it.
