Four members of the CODEPINK womens peace movement were arrested Wednesday afternoon. The women, Desiree Fairooz, 52, of Arlington, Texas, Toby Blome, 53 of El Cerrito, Cali., Kit Siemen, 50, of Quilcene, Wash., and Nancy Mancias, 38, of San Francisco, were protesting Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin near the St. Paul Hotel when police pushed them to the sidewalk and into the fence surrounding the security perimeter.
CODEPINKs media contact Jean Stevens sent this message along:
In protest of the war and Republican vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palins pro-war and pro-drilling positions, the CODEPINK women had been singing and dancing in crowns, sashes and pink clothing, when police surrounded them and began to push them up onto the sidewalk and against a metal fence set up in the plaza. The women complied but continued to be pushed to the side and were told clear out. In symbolic sign of civil disobedience, saying free speech cannot be caged and all of America is a free speech zone, the four women tried to crawl under the fence. Police pulled them through to the other side and arrested them.
They are the first members of CODEPINK to be arrested during the Republican National Convention.

I didn’t start this thread to battle with your juvenile attitude. I’ll have it removed.

[In Denver we could joke around a bit with the police]
Sadly, Denver has drunk the Rainbow Coolaid.
Apparently Minnesota hasn't had an SB200 Rainbow Nazi brigade take over their legislature.... yet.
The rest of the country needs to wake up before what happened in Colorado happens to them - and they all wake up with an SB200esque coup détat.

I hope they waterboard them. But if they get wet they'll disappear in a cloud of smoke!

There are just sooo many jokes in those names but I see the mod has already deleted one post so I’ll just leave it to fertile Freeper imaginations. But Kit Siemen? Come on!!

The whole world is watching! The whole world is watching! They wish.
Haven't seen or heard about it, until I read this thread.
Too bad Pinkos, it's not 1968 anymore..
Thank God
I remember 1968, and it would be with no particular fondness, it it hadn't also been the year I graduated from high school, and when I started seriously dating my wife of 38 years.

Every time I see a Code Pinko story I post this:
“Hey Code Pinko! Why don't you come back to Miami and protest near the Versailles rest. again? Remember those little old American-Cuban ladies that chased you off and the police officers laughing at you? We are all waiting for you to come back!”

police pushed them to the sidewalk and into the fence surrounding the security perimeterOh, boohoohoo. The police aren't joking around because they've received credible bomb threats and threats to kidnap delegates. That means it's not the time for kidding around with thse jacka**es.

In Denver we could joke around a bit with the police. They were calm and very well trained, she says. Here, there is no joking. No respect. And instant shut-down. No respect is right - on your park pinko. If they really respected the process they wouldn't push the limits and beg to get arrested. State your beliefs and opinions, please (we find them entertaining), but observe the bounds of good behavior. If you choose to express yourself by going beyond the stated limits - eg. disobeying a law enforcement officer doing his/her duty - then you're going to have to live with the consequences of your actions.
By the way, implying that the police in the Twin Cities are not well trained is in itself disrespectful. Actually, the "instant shut-down" is called taking command of the situation, is in-fact a reflection of being very well trained, and is for your safety, the officers' safety, and the safety of the innocent bystanders around you. Talk to anyone in law enforcement and they will tell you that controlling the situation is crucial to safety. They want, they need, for everyone to understand who is in control so that no-one gets the bright idea to do something dumb.

Thought Code Stink was just an anti-war group, now they are anti-drilling? Guess they just threw that in there to try and make themselves relevant, like they ever were to begin with....lol

So which media organization gave the Code Pinko the ‘credentials’ to get inside the arena tonight so she could cause a stink during Sarah Palin’s speech?

Could of been any of them, from Bill O'Reilly on down (up?)
Reported in the Wa Po:
10:45 p.m. A pair of Code Pink activists just got to the very edge of the stage and were a moment away from apparently running on stage, right by the Kentucky slot on the floor next to a host of McCain's most senior staffers.
Secret Service men grabbed them at last minute and literally dragged them out.

Looks like the SS let them get pretty close. They are not that hard to spot---sight, smell etc.
