Democratic vice-presidential nominee Joe Biden said yesterday that he and running mate Barack Obama could pursue criminal charges against the Bush administration if they are elected in November.
Biden's comments, first reported by ABC news, attracted little notice on a day dominated by the drama surrounding his Republican counterpart, Alaska governor Sarah Palin.
But his statements represent the Democrats' strongest vow so far this year to investigate alleged misdeeds committed during the Bush years.
"If there has been a basis upon which you can pursue someone for a criminal violation, they will be pursued," Biden said during a campaign event in Deerfield Beach, Florida, according to ABC.
"[N]ot out of vengeance, not out of retribution," he added, "out of the need to preserve the notion that no one, no attorney general, no president -- no one is above the law."

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner!
Real Rich, opps......I mean Frank Rich.....
Can you smell it?
That is the scent of hypocrisy and hatred of country
If they push just a little bit harder -- the wrath of the women of America will fall on them; and the women will relent just long enough to let the REAL men open up a can of *ss-kicking on the Dem parasites and their minions.
Cheers!
Just one more thing to look forward to in an Obamanation. These guys are stuck in the cone of stupid.
40 acres and a mule, somewhere else
And to save you the burden of listening to too much of Joe Biden, the question starts at 49:35
And, they will ignore the criminal acts committed by the Clintons (Filegate, Chinagate, N. Koreagate, and failure to protect American citizens by confronting those who had declared war against us). Hypocrites.
Talking about criminal charges is pandering to the insane moonbats.
Note to Obama: Lay off the pipe! You’re running against nominee McCain, not lame duck President Bush. Lay off the pipe.
Better yet, tilt after windmills.
Yep, they are insane. We need to get rid of their playbook.
Who peed in your cornflakes?
If you don’t think that Biden’s son’s business dealings are wrong, then why don’t you follow your own advice or go post over at DU where they’d welcome comments like yours?
Let’s see. Is that any less immoral or unethical that a teen pregnancy?
LOL. Good one. Bring everything back to Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. You should offer your services as a talking points writer for the DNC.
Or was it cynical tag?
Yeah, cynical tag.
what year do they think this is? Bush isn’t running, it’s not 2000 or even 2004........the McCain/Palin ticket is the one they need to beat.
You would think so by all the Left Wing scum who are savaging Sarah Palin and her family. Now, Metmom, until you slap them around until they stop, why don’t you just STFU about it?
HUH?
I think the poor gal merely forgot a sarcasm tag fellas!
Lighten up!
P.T.B.A.A.
I wish I could take credit for that. Come to think of it, Joe Blow(hard) is better!
metmom’s a liberal? News to me.
I’ll tell you what, why don’t you go back through my posting history and find somewhere where I took a liberal stand on anything and get back to me with it.
I’m actually surprised that someone would want to appear to be defending the msm or Biden. What Biden’s son has done is way worse than a teen pregnancy. It’s one thing to have two hormone laden teens end up with a (no doubt) unplanned pregnancy, and another to deliberately engage in fraud, which has to be premeditated and deliberately executed.
Ignoring the fraud and rabidly attacking the pregnancy, shows that the hypocrisy of the msm in dealing with the VP candidates.
One kid was raised to do the right thing and is marrying the father of the child, the other clearly didn’t get the same set of morals from his father. It reflects on both sets of parents and I know which one I’d rather have in an important position of leadership.
MetMom. I apologize. I mistook you for another poster with a very similar moniker. She’s actually not bad for a liberal—keeps things reasonably civilized.
Far be it from me to slander a fellow Conservative. Mea Culpa. Mea Maxima Culpa.
