Obama is up by 6 in today's Rasmussen tracker, by 5 without leaners (48 - 43). It is obviuos that McCain had a very bad polling day yesterday, something like 42-53 daily sample or even worse.
Some of it may be statistical noise, but it appears that all the noise around Palin selection is starting to hurt.

ST. PAUL, Minnesota (CNN) -- Key evangelical leaders rallied to Sarah Palin's support Monday amid news that her 17-year-old daughter, Bristol, was having a child.
"Before, they were excited about her, with the Down syndrome baby," conservative, anti-tax activist Grover Norquist said. "But now with this, they are over the moon. It reinforces the fact that this family lives its pro-life values."

Well, obviously I can’t speak for every republican out there, but I can say this, she’s excited a base that was less than excited as far as I can tell.
$10 Million in 3 days over a holiday weekend for the McCain camp is something that cannot be ignored. The dynamic of the conservative base has certainly shifted among those I have spoken to since friday. From one of largely moderate to unenthusiastic support to one of true excitement.
“Todd Palins DUI was from over 20 years ago, before he even had any kids. He wasnt drinking because he was Mr. Mom and had a pregnant teen daughter.”
If this was over 20 years ago, I COULD CARE LESS!
It was presented as “recently” which appears to be incorrect.
That's my earnest wish too. I sent an Email to the McCain campaign, saying I think she is a great candidate. I had tried to leave a voice mail before that, but the "box" was full.
States have actually be trending toward McCain, and that’s the point. I see nothing in this new poll that changes that.
Last update of states showed every state that moved, moved toward McCain. Strong D’s moved to Lean D’s, Lean D’s moved to Toss ups, toss ups moved to lean R and lean R’s moved to strong R. Last update of the states by Rasmussen showed ZERO states moving D at all.

Which post?
Don’t sweat it!
As long as it is cleared up - who cares!
Why do you think we have erasers on the end of most pencils?
Heck we all make mistakes.
Lighten up on yourself!
It’s OKAY!
Forget the emotinally disturbed “conservatives” that want to crucify you. They’re as bad as LIBERALS with their constant beating up on you. Yes, there are emotional nutkobs on each side of the aisle.
My daughter (who was 30-ish and had used birth control) got pregnant before her marriage, too.
Palin will get the very enthusiastic support of lots of grandmothers like me .. and grandfathers like my husband...And mothers like my daughter... and fathers like my son-in-law.
“Sott Rasmussen is an evangelical Christian Republican.”
Are you sure about that?
I read some where ... don’t ask where ... that he was a Demoncrat. I’d LIKE to be wrong. You do worry me with the “Evangelical” part considering how they treated Mitt ... . In the long run though, it shouldn’t matter. He’s a poller.
How so?
Plus, the Gustav storm took the minds off of the Republican convention
Not after today. ;)
McCain and Palin KNEW they would eventually have to make this pregnancy thing public ... they should have somehow figured a way to inform the public right up front, instead of having it look like it was a big deep dark secret that was outed by the left wing kooks.
I disagree. It's a personal issue. . .unfortunate, but something that most parents can sympathize with. The libs will hurt themselves the more they make an issue of it.
Heck NO!!
I was among the worst, having been lured to the wrong side in the late 60s and 70s....by the promise of free sex, drugs, and rock n' roll. (have since made a complete recovery)
In fact, I have been on a crusade as of late to 'expose' the deep dark secrets of various reporters and editors who seem obsessed with attacking conservatives, while leaving Democrats alone.
I don't care if the newspaper IS a private corporation.
If they put themselves in the business of pushing public policy, they deserve to be outed as the lying cretins they are.
Untwist your panties, dear. I merely said Rasmussen blew it this time. The excitement over Palin is palpable.
Every national poll has McCain down 6-8 right now.
Got links?
It’s really a mixed bad within the conservative base.
I think most will vote for McCain even if they don’t like his pick ... but many are NOT happy with the pick, the role reversal (Mr. Mom) and pregnant daughter situation. They just don’t want to voice it because they feel bad for Sarah. Role reversal (Mr. Mom) and the unwed pregnancy is NOT a conservative posture nor does it play well with conservative Christians ... .
Yep. Only people I ran into who weren't excited or intrigued were far left libs. And this was even after the announcement of her daughter's pregnancy.
There’s something in what you say. However, I will take it one step further. I saw the polling results yesterday that said that while men loved Palin, women didn’t. So I was thinking about this while swimming my daily laps this morning. That’s when I do my best thinking. Anyhoo, personally, I love the Palin pick. She’s a real conservative, unlike the guy at the top of the ticket. I also don’t have a problem with self-made, attractive women.
But, frankly, a LOT of women do. I believe that the calculus was made by the McCain campaign that they weren’t going to win this on Republican and independent male votes alone, so maybe Palin could pull enough independent white women and PUMAs to change the race. However, I’m sure you’ve looked at footage of Hillary’s rallies as I have. Those women are not exactly the beauty queen type, and few of them look self-made. Also, nobody thinks that Hillary got where she was on her looks.
I don’t think in the long run the daughter’s pregnancy nor the husband’s DUI hurt the ticket. However, if the perception becomes that McCain picked Palin SOLELY because she’s a woman, or, even worse, if they believe she zoomed to the pinnacle of politics in record time because she’s pretty and has big boobs, that will be deadly. Few independent women, and even fewer PUMAs, will vote for a beauty queen who’s riding on her looks. And I imagine that many, if not most, are quite willing to believe that’s the case even if it’s not. Jealousy is an ugly thing, but it’s very real, and a powerful motivator.
I saw your post later where you were upset with the newspaper. Give them hell.
The GOP bounce will determine allot!
Are conservatives really excited about Sarah or is it just the more vocal ones dominating the microphone? The polls are showing a mixed reaction to Sarah. One of them came out with 39% approve, 39% dont approve and the rest are undecided and that is within the GOP BASE.

What poll was that?
I’m sre about the evangelical Christian part. I’ve never actually been in the voting booth with him, though.
