ABC: Palin Pregnancy a 'Damaging Revelation'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 09/01/2008 2:28:19 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Bristol Palin's pregnancy is a "damaging revelation " that has caused Sarah Palin's image to "suffer." Says who? Says ABC News, in an article by Rick Klein and Jennifer Parker.

In Palin Pregnancy Rocks Political World, Klein and Parker report reaction from a variety of Republican and traditional-values sources. Every one, from Dr. James Dobson to Grover Norquist to Chuck Donovan of the Family Research Council to a pro-life delegate to the GOP convention who said "the fact that her daughter's keeping it and marrying the father is wonderful," had a positive reaction.

But what do they know? Declare Klein and Parker emphasis added]:

Palin's image may suffer further if more damaging revelations come out in the coming days and weeks.

ABC is full of it. It’ll be the opposite...what fools and again poor analysis by the donkeys. These evildoers minds’ are so filled with darkness they couldn’t see the truth if it slapped them in the face. Yes, I agree wishful thinking.

Good article at that link. Two thoughts:

1. Bristol has a great support system, a boyfriend who hasn’t left town and has stepped up to the plate and a home town that cares about her, her family and her pending baby. Abortion was most likely not considered for one single second. And we TAXPAYERS won’t be picking up the dime for this baby. Hurray!

2. I wonder how much her mother’s pregnancy at the ‘advanced age’ of 44 (Grannyville to a teen!) impacted her and determined her choices? When your Mom is PERFECT it’s pretty hard to live up to that, and while you love her dearly, you know you’ll never measure up, so why bother? I had ‘The Perfect Mother’ while I was growing up, too. Then, she left us all (Dad & us girls) for another man, and we were expected to just suck it up and deal with it as far as she was concerned. It STILL p*sses me off to this day. So, ‘Perfect Mother’ or not, a daughter is greatly influenced by her mother to her betterment or to her ill. I wish Bristol the best. Her Mom is one helluva act to try to follow. And that’s too bad.

Just thinking out loud. This situation hasn’t changed my opinion of Mrs. Palin or the family, or her selection for VP one iota! :)

We have not yet had this experience with our children (see my #72), but we know that even if you could, somehow, prevent your children from having the opportunity to engage in sexual immorality (I know some families try), it’s likely to backfire at some point.

If Kos, DU, and HuffPo hadn’t spread the vile rumor about Bristol being Trig’s mother it might’ve been different. But now, compared to that, it’s kind of a yawner as far as “stunning revelations” go.

THANK YOU LIBS! For people so against guns they sure do shoot themselves in the foot alot.

Sen. Joseph Biden - Bearing false witness...

Exactly. And pretending he knew nothing about his now-indicted brother and son.

Sorry ABC, where were you when Al Gore, III was caught multiple times, driving drunk and in possession of drugs?

The media reaction to Gore was "Who knew a Prius could go that fast?"

First of all, please don’t shoot the messenger. That being said, my first reaction when I read the story earlier today- and I bet a very large percentage of Freepers first reaction- was, “Oh sh*t!” It’s not good. Obama is not going to have to say a thing. Believe me, if the daughter had been caught with drugs or shot somebody, it wouldn’t be a big deal. But the MSM is gonna be on this like nobody’s business. Go to the google news page- it’s all Bristol all the time. In the past, the minor children of candidates were always off limits to the MSM- but you better believe not any more. Not when it comes to the messiah.

Often, the best revenge is success. Conservatives can do something that would annoy the heck out of liberal Democrats. Have children, and have more than two children.

Literally make it a part of the conservative philosophy to create lives for ourselves where several children are wanted, not the “two children is too many” approach of the liberals that has tarnished our society.

Conservative employers should reward their employees who have more children precisely because it makes them more stable in their career. And reward them even more if they are the single breadwinner, their spouse raising the children, because it helps make a stable family.

It has long been known that when a nation reaches an economic threshold, families usually limit themselves to two or fewer children instead of larger families. However, pressure from government and culture can push this number lower far more easily than it can raise it.

This is why most industrialized nations have less than replacement level population growth: because of a child hostile government and culture. Strangely enough, much of this hostility is unintentional, or even the result of trying to force a better life for children. Either way, the result is the same.

In the 1950s, the expectation was that men worked and women raised the family, and this produced a population boom. But the role of raising children was despised in the 1960s, and many women joined the workforce. They saw the advantage of this as bringing home more money for their family as well as for self improvement.

However, the government took away the extra money by raising taxes dramatically, forcing women to work even if they didn’t want to, and for what amounted to, for free. It was good for “national productivity” but ruinous to the family.

To turn back the clock, conservative families must do a lot. First they must dispense with a lot of the frivolous materialism, buying “stuff” instead of having children. And the illusion that childhood is only “good” if a child has a lot of “stuff”.

Other government programs have to be disdained as well, because despite their intentions, they sap away the ability to have and raise children. Much of this is in the form of human energy. And truthfully, the government and liberal culture wants people to spend their energy working, increasing productivity, not in raising children.

There will be endless details to figure out how conservatives can, as a philosophy, have more children, with mutual support from their new cultural paradigm. But it is well worth the effort.

I've said it before -- but the election may turn on Sarah Palin's guilty plea to maliciously and with malice of forethought use a gill net to fish salmon.

Honestly, the more I learn about her and her family, the more I like her!

What was it Obama said? “I don’t wanna punish her with no baby......”

So if she says the baby will be aborted will that make her all of a sudden a Lefty Hero?

Nah baby nah

Find me the perfect family, they do not exist.

As Jesus said of GOD “He is perfect.”

He just is not running for office.

I don’t see anything damaging about it exactly. “Teenage girl makes an error in judgment.” Hardly an unusual headline there! And I think that the reactions of the Palin family reflect very well on them. You can tell Sarah and her husband are good parents because their daughter trusted them to tell them the truth and ask for help. And the girl’s boyfriend is also being responsible and marrying her. So yes, the teenagers made a mistake but everyone involved is making the best of the situation and there’s nothing damaging about that.

I do have to say that if Sarah was my friend, though, and I knew she could afford it, I would advise her to quit her job. Now she has a retarded baby and a pregnant teenage daughter who will both need her help, as well as two other daughters who need a mother’s guidance. That is an awful lot to handle at the same time as a demanding full time job. I kind of hope she stays on as VP because I am afraid that McCain would pick some stupid RINO instead of another young conservative like her, but I have to admit that I feel a little conflicted about hoping for an outcome that I really think is worse for her family. But will it make me less likely to vote for her, NO WAY!

Amen!

I know my wife and I were 46 years ago. I only hope it works out as well for this young lady as it has for my wife and me.

Maybe I don't know FreeRep that well, but I honestly doubt there would be a huge outcry were it the daughter of a Democrat. Oh sure, there are those here who would make an issue it, but for the most part I think the attitudes around here are more like out attitude than the other way around.

You see, the media/libs want Palin to fold with embarassment and shame, and drop out of the race.

Now, if Palin had her daughter abort the baby, the media/libs would cheer. They had rather cheer someone who kills a baby, rather than someone who does the right thing and accepts, loves, and raises the baby.

Liberals are a warped group of people, and should be annointed with the title of "The Morlocks" of society.
